SPOTY 2017

It's all a bullshit popularity vote anyway.

Just ignore it all, like the Royal Wedding shite.

I always used to watch SPOTY but haven't for a good few years now. I find it a bit tedious and overblown now TBH.

Henman to win.

Peaty should win imo. His achievements across a few years merit it.

Aye 20 years ago, it was a programme I would go out my way to see, now its just a pile of shite.

Just the way media has changed really, 20 years ago and more if you wanted to see a rundown of a load of sports through the year, it was the only place to get it. If I want to catch all that these days I can do it right now, it'll take me seconds to find.

It's in that odd niche where it's too much of an anachronism and should probably just be quietly shuffled off, but you'd have endless complaints if you did that. As I end up saying every single year when Wimbledon is on, there is absolutely no need whatsoever for BBC One to show news bulletins at 1, 6 and 10pm. They have a news channel that everyone in the country receives for free which simulcasts the exact same programme. But try getting rid of it.

AJ not even in the top three :icon_lol:

This is why you shouldn't let the public vote on anything.

That shocked me. Well deserved for his career as he's been unlucky to miss out in previous years.

Had a feeling Mo would win. What a farce at the end though!

I'm amazed that people still tune into this.

Assume the editor of the daily mails head has exploded due to a black,Muslim immigrant coming over here and taking our awards

I'm more bothered by British athlete who trains in the US with other athletes, some of whom are proven drug cheats and a coach with questions hanging over his head than where he was born. I want to believe in the Mo story, sadly I struggle to.

I'll put this here rather than start a new thread, plus the above post has aged well.

Ben Stokes' odds have drifted significantly a Twitter search will tell you why

It's a profoundly irrelevant award and institution. BBC need to bin it.
