Spurs 0-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

You pretty much need a roof to stop any water getting the front rows because of the wind.

It's a really nice stadium though. I went for the NFL and it's very classy, albeit I thought the rows were a bit tightly packed and stairs very vertical.

After this last weeks results I may have to review my pessimism. When Conte came tonSpurs and went 9 unbeaten I thought they were back on track . Well they aren’t. They were probably the worst team defensive wise we have played all season in any competition. They were rank. They need life saving surgery at the back . We continue to impress on the road . If we sort our home form we may be in with a shout and that sentence goes against all logic with the squad depth we have and the number of goals we have scored. Still I will happily take being wrong. We are higher now so it wasn’t as good as it gets .

One of the Robbies (Earle or Mustoe, can't remember which now) had a real go at the Spurs fans yesterday, going on about how "maybe they should have been more careful" in wanting Nuno sacked.

No idea if he's onto anything but it gave me some solid schadenfreude nonetheless.

Nuno had nowhere to go after that Utd performance, although the Levy/Kane dynamic did for him.

Depends of where you think we should be I guess
It's not where I "think we should be". We have no divine right to anything. God we know that. It's simply where I want to see Wolves and the kind of players I like to see in old gold. Donk over the past couple of seasons has been a let down. Agreed he's not had a decent run and positionally has moved about a bit but he's been cack in the main.

The issue I have with Donck pile ons like Naylor or Edwards before them is he tries. After watching countless players over the years who haven't - Anderton winning the gold medal, I look at the manager who picks the under par player or the recruitment that means he's there rather than the player himself. He has a competant ceiling, but that's not his fault

Think maybe I’ve phrased what I meant poorly, and looks as if we kind of agree. By ‘where you think we should be’ I meant if you think we should be part of the main ‘big 6’ (clearly you don’t and I’ve misunderstood) then yes we would need an upgrade. However looking at spurs, even at United centre mid i wouldn’t say swapping donk for say winks, Fred etc is a given. As our third choice CM for a team chasing Europe there’s worse players around.

He hasn’t had a great season (not as bad as some peoples opinion IMO) irrelevant of him playing several positions. Doesn’t help that out 2 starting CMs are exemplary.

If we are to progress, to say favourites for top 6 etc then he may well need upgrading, I just don’t see us getting to that stage with the gulf in finances between the ‘sky 6’ and the rest is all.

At his best he's a really good player (with limitations in terms of technique), had Pogba in his pocket twice inside a matter of weeks in 2019. Yesterday was his best game since maybe Villa away right at the start of lockdown football which is pushing two years ago.

Agreed that his effort can never be questioned. It's the rank bone idle (see pre-Nuno Doherty, Eastwood, Harewood, Pennant, Johnson, O'Hara, Halford etc etc etc) that really get both barrels.

Never like 'piling' in on players who are out of form, problem is Donk has been a bit off for 18 months now. Hopefully he's starting to get his mojo back. It all started to go wrong for him beginning of last season, he had a number of games where he got into great positions, probably 5 or 6, but didn't score any of them, a ,combo of poor finishing and some good goalkeeping. After that he lost confidence and form. Yesterday and to a lesser extent a couple of games before, he got back to some semblance of his form from his first 2 seasons.

Cheers, Louie!

really amazing seeing his growth this season.

you love to see it
