Squad 2022/2023 What will happen

Clearly i don't think that's why we are shit.

I am just asking you if you think letting him go to Barca strengthened our squad? As that what the highlighted line implies?
I don't think it weakened it as he didn't add anything.

The manager has been far more influential than whatever Adama Traore fans think he has. Which was your implied point when you asked what the record has been since his departure.

I'm saying it made no difference.

I'm saying it made no difference.
Well, i think that's wrong.

He's a better player than Trincao and Hwang, and arguably at the moment Neto. Especially as his form was actually good when we let him go.

So he'd have had a positive impact as he'd have been playing instead of those players, frankly it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise, but when you have such an ingrained disregard of a player and you have been so entrenched with that view, i appreciate it's difficult for you to admit that. (y)

Was his form actually good? Didn't start a league game after City away on 11 December. He was doing sort of ok for 15 minutes off the bench, even that came with caveats, he missed an absolute sitter vs Southampton before he scored a couple of minutes later. Was rubbish when he started vs Sheff Utd in the cup.

He did score in his last 2 games (1 disallowed) which was an upturn for him as his 0 goals and assists were oft mentioned so improved in that respect, still couldn't have been less effective than Hwang and Trincao

Current day Kenny Miller would be better than those pair. It's a false narrative though to say he was playing well, he couldn't get in a team that didn't score many goals.

We all have our take on Adama, but binning off a decent first team asset when we're pushing for Europe and already have a small squad (which doesn't exactly tear up trees in an attacking sense anyway) makes no sense if we don't even get a sale at the end of it

It was crazy, and i can't remember us doing a deal as bad as this for a long time, it was just so obviously a bad deal for us, so much so that many of us didn't believe it!

Sellars:

A good deal is a deal that is good for the club, good for the player and his agent and for the club he is going to.

“There’s no obligation but there’s an option to buy. If Barcelona can struggle financially then that situation is across football at the moment. Not a lot of people have a lot of money at the moment, so that type of deal is happening a lot more"

Would love to know which part of it was good for the club?

I think Adama Traore is absolutely shit, and I'm probably one of his fiercest critics. I'd have still given him 20-25 minutes in at least half a dozen of the games we've played since we gave him away. Not with any great confidence that he'd make a difference, but it's not exactly as if we could've looked much worse, and he *might* have had one of those spells where he's fucking brilliant, we end up with 2-3 points more than the pathetic total we've had in the last ten games, and we're in pole position for Europe.

Don't get me wrong, I want him gone, but given the option between Adama and Trincao to throw on for 20 minutes when you're chasing a game, Trincao is staying sat down 100 times out of 100

He was coming off the bench and having an impact.

Whatever, it's far more a false narrative to suggest that him being here rather that in Barcelona would have made no difference whatsoever, as we watch Hwang and Trincao mince about.
It's not a false narrative. It's a difference of opinion.

I'm finding people that overly use the word narrative are irritating me, probably irrationally.

Oh the irony

There's a lot being pinned on MGW returning as a starter. I've felt we have under used him for a lot of his time, and can't help but feel he is likely to push for a move when his loan expires, regardless of whether sheff utd go up or not.

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't come back and is given a proper chance to show what he can do, that doesn't mean being thrown on for 5 minutes at the end of games when we're chasing a goal or trying to shut up shop.
Wolves fans have been crying out for him to go on loan for ages to prove himself which he has (and to a lesser extent at Swansea). Some of those same fans are now saying he's only doing well cos its the Championship, kid can't get a break with some.
I suspect he'll go if he can, either to Sheffield if they can afford him or to one of the promoted teams.

Don't think anyone has said that to be honest.

Would I rather have a player at the club or let him go for literally nothing and not replace him? Well, unless he's an absolute shitbeak like Willian José, obviously the former.

Well no that's not what I've said. You do like to make up nonsense don't you?

I'm saying it has made no difference if he stayed or not.
You're too clever for me mate, what are you saying it's made no difference to? Our point tally? Our performances?

Because i am literally saying that it WOULD have made a difference as he is a better player than Trincao and/or Hwang, and just having him on the bench would have made a difference. I think that's what you are disagreeing with, and what DW is saying that no one is disagreeing with.

I can only apologise if i have got this wrong..

You're reading far too much into stuff mate.

I mean the way the Lage poll is phrased is the same crap in-joke I've been using for nearly 20 years after that dolt Essex Wolf phrased it that way about Dave Jones on the E&S Mol Mix. I didn't do it to skew opinion one way or the other, I did it to run the life out of a very tired old gag because I can't be arsed thinking of new jokes when I'm a bit squiffy after we've got beaten 3-0 at home :D

Although the fact that very few people actually back him up in the comments is telling...

How?

The only person who i can see that thinks us keeping Adama wouldn't have made a difference is Johnny (anyone else please raise your hand) . You say no one has said that, i quote the line where he said it, and then you reply with this, and he makes some unfathomably snarky comment that i don't understand.

I am arguing that point, as to me it seems ridiculous.

You are also defending that point now, even though you said no one has said that? When they have?

Is this some conspiracy you are both having to gaslight me? It's bizarre. 🤣

As for the poll, yeah i thought it was shit (the options, not the title, i know that's an old joke), it's fine as a conversation starter, but when you start quoting the results of such a heavily loaded poll and compare them to other ones as though it's fair, then yeah it looks a bit daft in my opinion.
