Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

Something else that is dodgy, is to copy and paste in full, articles that are behind paywalls.

Can we refrain from doing this please. By all means enter extracts referencing where they are from, or links to the article itself. I'm not a legal expert but you would think that Companies that are putting articles behind a paywall aren't going to be happy if folk are copying them to be read for free elsewhere. I would hate for the forum to get into trouble over this.

My issue is that it's the system which is corrupt, Wolves are just playing it, but instead of looking to make meaningful change by campaigning at the highest echelons they write snooty pieces like this.

In it's purest sense I don't like our relationship with Mendes or that we are open to being called Mendes FC, I find it morally and ethically questionable...but admire what the club are doing within the boundaries of what's allowed, why shouldn't they?

Don't like the rules, then get them changed, the power of the world's press couldn't be totally ignored, but whilst those rules are in place then you can keep the high and mighty lectures.

This sums up my thoughts pretty well.

I don't get bent out of shape per se, but it is tiresome listening to the same angle over and over. As TT says, if you actually want to change it then focus the attention in the right areas rather than just constantly taking the easy option of sniping at us.

I'd usually agree, but its the Times and their owners are possibly the worst scum on the planet.

Perhaps using something like pastebin might be more appropriate.

It's not an invalid story for a journalist to dig into, by any means.

You'd have thought that someone might have a new angle or a smoking gun by this point, though, because fundamentally the journos have been regurgitating the exact same details for three or four years by this point.

Good idea going forwards

We only have 7 players represented by Mendes now, according to Transfermarkt so it's not like Mendes runs all our players.
I guess only the big 6 are allowed such levels of input from a "super agent" and god forbid any other team breaks their control at the top of the English game

Mendes doesn’t represent Fabio Silva but it has his finger prints all over it. Exchange “getting bent out of shape” for “trying to defend the indefensible”.

We just need to accept the link with Mendes, we are benefitting massively from it. Let’s not pretend it isn’t a thing.

and no other team in the Premier League is doing the same?
What makes Wolves so dangerous that the press have to focus only on us?

Yes it's happening here as it is elsewhere so when everyone is treated the same I'll give a shit, until then? What's good for them will do for us as that is modern football and has been for years. We've come in late and are doing it better than some other teams and so are a target

Why’s that then? I’d have thought personally that murderers and rapists would be above newspaper owners?

Yes they probably are. Are they doing it as openly and blatantly as Wolves? No.

So as a result we are just attracting the most attention.

So just accept it rather than feeling victimised.

Oh no, am I a victim?? Wow, I didn't know they named me in the article.

What a strange accusation to make and nowhere have I said or insinuated that I'm feeling victimised :icon_lol:

Apropos of nothing of course 28 of the last 30 transfers made by Manchester United with SAF as manager used the same agent. Jorge Mendes.

This links to both the Mendes and Dortmund discussions.

We want to buy good players at a good price. Mendes represents good players and knows how to get the price right. Big fucking shock that we'd leverage that.

As with anyone who accuses any club of "buying success", it's jealousy, plain as. The links with Mendes would mean absolutely fuck all if the recruitment team wasn't identifying the appropriate players to bring in.

I don't think anybody is denying the Mendes link and our benefit from it. In fact there are others that are embracing the strategy and whilst we have an agent who facilitates deals there are several clubs, Brentford being one in particular, who are employing people to do what Mendes does, which is facilitate deals for players.

It is incredibly time consuming but is no different to any other sales process in any other industry. I have no idea why people are crying about it or saying it's devious. It isn't it's just a different strategy and as it happens we are an early adopter and beneficiary of it.

In your first post you originally stated that we don’t have that many “gestifute” clients on the books. I then stated that just because they aren’t written down as Mendes clients, doesn’t mean Mendes wasn’t involved when he clearly is (hence attracting attention).

You then state that every other club is the same. Why focus on wolves? (Suggesting you feel wolves are targeted).

Which I then explain why we are being highlighted. We are simply doing it louder than others.

And victimised like I say above (that wolves are being targeted), not you personally [emoji1787]

Oh no, am I a victim?? Wow, I didn't know they named me in the article.

Which then elicited this response that I was calling you a victim. When I wasn’t [emoji2371] (or thats not what I intended, but you may have interpreted it as such).

Explicitly insinuating that I am feeling victimised...

I don't really get why people get upset about it, it's just white noise. Same as "Garth Crooks didn't put Coady in his team of the week" or "it's a disgrace that we're last on MOTD", who cares?

We know how we operate, the authorities are happy with it so I don't care what the perception is, it impacts on nothing.
