A general compliment is no issue.

That's not what's happened with prawn, particular posts have been singled out for pointed praise, the inference being that only a slither of his content is worthy of merit and an exception to the rest.

How would you have felt if the customer that called you a smart man had been in your shop and spoke to you hundreds of times then one day finally said something like 'you can be a smart man sometimes', puts a slightly different slant on it no?

I don't praise every comment I agree with, or find value in - that would be a full-time job. I also try not to hurl personal insults at someone who posts something I find wrong. Everyone on here posts ideas with merit, together with thoughts that others might find less worthy. When the latter happens is it really that bad to say that you find other comments more praiseworthy?

You're a smart man, but I disagree with you on this point.

On second thoughts, I am sure we agree. Critique the comment, not the person making it. It's just that sometimes one gets mistaken for the other.

Mendes has actually grown in importance because of FFP rules that unfairly penalise a club like Wolves. The only way we can progress is by creative transfers of players and to do it effectively you need an enabler like Mendes.

People have been scoring this transfer window based on the quality of players brought in, but from a non-footballing perspective this has been a 10/10 window that probably sets us up for the next 4 or 5 years. Assume we turn the loans of Vitinha and Rayan into purchases we will have Silva, Rayan, Hoever and Vitinha all under 20 and at least one of them will be earmarked to move on in a few years like Jota and probably at a price more than they are worth. We have taken FPP and worked within the rules because buying and selling is the only way we can generate revenue until we have significantly expanded capacity and have cracked the global market.

Jota isn’t worth north of £40 million and Doherty (in the current market) is probably worth a little more than £15 million... it the combined fee for both is probably about right and that was engineered by Mendes.

No decision should be seen in isolation. This transfer window we have largely balanced the books while improving the depth of the squad and definitely upped the potential. We also have the ability in January or next summer to go big without worrying too much about FPP.

I have no qualms about the Mendes involvement because all he is doing is bridging the disadvantage between the biggest clubs and the rest. We just have a head start and the very best agent. Long may it continue.

We are playing the game in the best way for us. Villa and Leeds moaned in the Championship because they perceived us as a threat. Now one or more of the established six has probably briefed the journalist to push the narrative as we are now perceived as a threat to them. For me, that’s progress.

I don't really get why people get upset about it, it's just white noise. Same as "Garth Crooks didn't put Coady in his team of the week" or "it's a disgrace that we're last on MOTD", who cares?

We know how we operate, the authorities are happy with it so I don't care what the perception is, it impacts on nothing.

This is how I feel too, there are 'dodgy' dealings in all areas of business all over the world, as long as we operate within the rules.....fuck the media and anybody else who has an issue with it

Do you recognise the author? Any known club affiliation or is he thought totally neutral in matters Mendes?

Adam Crafton, seems to do quite a bit on Leeds but otherwise covers multiple clubs, not a specialist (hmmm) like Timbolina.

"Could have been better" is so disingenuous :icon_lol:

Everything could be better, for any club in the world. In fact for absolutely anything in life.

I mean I would say I'm both satisfied AND I would say it could have been better, but one is framed as positive there and one as negative.

Aren't reasonable and could have been better essentially the same thing?

I’d say satisfied, reasonable and could have been better are all the same too

Always followed the PL. He supported Wolves when they were there. That’s how I read it.

My take on the Transfer window (scores out of 100)

Silva - 80 - Lots of potential. Needs experience & bulking up
Vitinha - 70 - Lots of potential. Haven't seen him play yet.
Semedo - 92 - Still can't believe we signed him.
Marcal - 82 - Looks solid. Hope he recovers soon.
Ait-Nouri - 80 - Only seen him play for Angers, but looks good
Hoever - 75 - He looks quality. Time will tell
Jota - 86 - Devastated when he left, but good business
Doherty - 78 - He wouldn't have been replaced if he hadn't left. Glad he did
MGW - 80 - Looking forward to his improvement when he returns
Vinagre - 80 - Glad it was recognised he needed to leave

That comes overall to 80.3. Hope I didn't leave out any of the 1st team dealings.

Please realise that this is my opinion and have only posted so others can see my feelings on what happened in the Transfer window.

Strange giving Silva a higher score than Hoever when one was a 1/4 of the price, same age and already had a bigger impact.

Let’s ignore what FM says and make our own judgements.

75? Hoever is definitely 76. Give your head a wobble.
