Mick McCarthy in his press conference today said that we didn't bid enough for him. From the BBC Live Page

McCarthy surprised Wolves didn't bid more for Moore

Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy had his press conference today ahead of the Bluebirds' trip to Nottingham Forest and he spoke in detail about Wolves' interest in striker Kieffer Moore.
The Premier League side bid for the Wales striker before the transfer window shut, but McCarthy says Wolves never came close to meeting Cardiff's valuation.
"I'm delighted to keep him. I am sure he would have been interested in playing in the Premier League," McCarthy said.
You don't want to lose a player who scored 20 goals the season before.
"Of course he was interested in playing in the Premier League, but there was no offer that came in that was anywhere near the club's valuation.
"The value to me, the team and the players is immense, he's been fabulous for us."
Suppose that's fair enough, then.

Interesting though that the only explicit mention of the bid being from us comes from the reporter, not Mick himself.

That's pretty explicit.

Unless the only way you will believe it is if Mick spelt it out to you.

It could have been any desperate PL team who were scrambling round trying to do a last minute deal... Oh

I’m all for not jumping to conclusions but I think it’s safe to say that’s us being talked about.

There's 20 clubs in the Prem, it's not really explicit at all.

I struggle to believe that Moore is the sort of player that we would actually have any interest in at all, let alone have scouted him and said "yeah, chuck some money at that". That is what is tough for me to believe.

There aren’t 20 teams in the premier league who would a) want to sign him in the first place and b) not meet the asking price. It’s us.

Which of the other 19 clubs were explicitly mentioned by journalists as having made a bid for him?

So even though various journalists said we made a bid, Mick says a bid was made by a Premier league club, and Spiers had said a week or so prior to deadline day that we were interested, you still refuse to believe it?

I just think it's funny that we don't give half a shit what any of those people say 9 times out of 10, and that the 1 time we do give a shit it's because it gives us a reason to be angry about something.

Speak for yourself.

Who doesn't believe we were in for Botman or Kamara or Sanches then?

Cant we not close this thread and move on to slagging off our new year targets?

Or you could have just been around on transfer deadline day to know all this already, rather than sneeringly assuming that everything that has already been discussed at length is bullshit, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.
This is the thing, though, isn't it? What we regard as "evidence" when journos are involved doesn't seem to have any kind of logical basis. And certainly I can't keep up with everything all the time, even on deadline day. I'm a busy guy.

Percy has a reputation for being pretty reliable, hence that tweet being good enough for me whereas your "yes" without anything else to go with it really doesn't do much for me as an argument.

My "yes" was because i really couldn't believe at this stage some 8 or 9 days or so after the deadline closed you were asking if we DID actually make a bid for Moore.

There had been dozens of posts about it. Spiers had talked about it at length, Keen, Judah, Percy, Mick McCarthy, i found it incredible that any Wolves fan would at this stage still be in denial that we had made a bid for Moore.

If you're too busy to follow Wolves to the same extent as others, maybe have a bit more respect for them when they tell you something is fact.
