Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I've been reflecting on where we go from here, particularly if Fosun continue to be thrifty. Working on the assumption that we lose Marcal, Johnny, Neves, Saiss, Cody, Podence, Traore and Jiminez, I still think we have enough of a squad to not get relegated and finally start to play 4-4-2.

A first XI of:

Sa
Semedo | Gomes/Boly | Kilman | Ait Nori
Chiquinho | Moutinho | Cundle | Neto
Gibbs White
[NEW STRIKER]

Should be good enough to stay up, providing we get the striker right.

A bench with Hoever, Mosquera, Dendoncker, Campbell, Hwang, Silva looks perhaps a little light but there's experience on there.

It's clear that Fosun need to make a handful of effective signings and at least 2 key signings to kick start the rebuild. But I honestly don't think the situation is as dire as some are making out and I can't see relegation next season.
People were saying we couldn’t rely on Moutinho to play more than 20 games a season two years ago. I know he’s been a lot better this season than last, but I certainly don’t fancy him and Cundle as a two. Far too lightweight.

We need to sign a completely new spine for the team.

New CB, New MF, New CF, minimum.

I disagree, that team goes down, very little leadership, a huge lack of experience other than Moutinho, no goals, an extremely weak midfield and a team that's had it's heart ripped out with Coady and Neves no longer a part of it.

However i don't think Johnny, Coady, Podence and Jiminez will leave, I just don't see who buys them above all else.

That midfield looks as physically imposing as a 10 year old ballerina.

You are Scott Sellars and I claim my £5 😉

That squad takes us down or near to it IMO.

Gomes/Chiquinho/MGW/Cundle all unknown quantities as long term first choice PL players. I'd expect at least two of them to be massively out of their depth at this stage in their PL careers.

Hoever/Mosquera/Campbell on the bench won't change PL games from what I've seen, and I wouldn't want any being thrown in for long periods as it stands.

Not even close to staying up with that team/squad.

Pardon me, but living over here I obviously miss loads of chat and whispers, but one thing that surprised me was when someone said 'Podence is actively looking to get away'!! Where did you see that what do you guys know?

Someone reported a couple of weeks back that Podence had had a bust up with Bruno and wasn't injured at all but was refusing to play (or that Bruno was refusing to play him).

Think it's something of a "no smoke without fire" situation.

Numerous rumours have come out of the club - some via "ITK" fans, some via actual journalists - about Podence being one of the players to fall out with Lage. Plus Podence unfollowed Wolves on his social media accounts last week, which is suspicious in itself.

I believe it was that he didn't want to play through an injury via injections, wasn't it?

The season is over for Middlesbrough and I have seen a few bits mentioned up here about Marcus Tavernier to Wolves (or Southampton)

Should have signed his brother when we get promoted from League 1

Think he was on loan at Rotherham that year and looked pretty good against us. But RB wasn't a priority, we had Ricketts who no-one thought we'd suddenly ditch, Doherty who well, you know what I think but Ken liked him, Ebanks-Landell and Stearman had played there and done ok-ish, Iorfa coming through.

Agreed. Always said James Tavernier would be an excellent signing for us. Watch a lot of Rangers due to family connections (watching them right now!) and he’s always their standout player.

This Rode we were linked witt looks a good player. Ability and mobility

He's 32 in October. I know we signed Moutinho at a similar age, but seems unlikely

I agree, but equally we don't want to be playing as a creche come August or we have real problems. Must be the youth/ experience balance.

The same Rode that used to be at Dortmund? Absolute nothing player back then.
