Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Zinchenko would be an absolutely perfect signing for us - exactly what we need - young, quick, good on the ball and versatile. Would add winning experience too.

But, again, let’s get real - the bloke probably has more trophies than our entire squad put together and so they’ll be loads of interest. Namely from either CL Clubs (abroad) or clubs ready to pay bigger bucks (Everton, Newcastle etc).

I know there’s probably loads involved and that we don’t understand but i don’t understand why we don’t sit down, identify targets and then actively go out and get them? It feels like we always wait, get into sone sort of bidding war…..and inevitably lose out.

Zinchenko for example - for me - would be the most obvious, ideal signing out there.

He’d cost £25m and, say, £120k a week.

Perfect age, ideal player and totally affordable.

Watch Newcastle sign him.

I don't see that he'd really improve Wolves, or anyone really, all that much.

He looks perfectly fine at City as a small cog in a massive, extremely well oiled, machine. You follow Pep's very regimented instructions, you've got bunch of the world's very best around you, drawing significant attention away from you and who can pick you out at their whim when you're free. He'd need to do much more than to improve the team and stand out at Wolves, buzzing about playing 15 yard passes with stationary wingbacks and central midfield partners isn't going to achieve much.

That's not to say he's a bad player, there's nothing wrong with him as such but it's just a very different proposition playing a supporting role alongside the very best compared to trying to lift the average. You see some players who struggle with the opposite switch too, take Zaha for example, great as a big finish in a small pond but he bombed horrifically at a big club.

I’ve got to disagree with you here, Mark.

Anyone who is a regular in Man City’s side, with a bucket load of trophies, is easily walking into this current Wolves side - make no bones about that.

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here.

I didn't say he wouldn't get in the team, I said he wouldn't particular improve the team, as a whole.

Say you play him instead of Moutinho alongside Neves in a 343, what extra does he bring to the table?

Maybe you got 352 instead, he's definitely in ahead of Dendoncker but does he still make that much difference? Sure he's not going to be terrified of turning on the ball and might do something other than pass it back straight where it came from but is that enough? Is he going to suddenly become a budget de Bruyne when he steps out of the real one's shadow and start popping up all over the pitch absolutely dominating the game?

Let's not kid ourselves that just because he plays for City he's a world beater and would transform the Wolves side single handedly. There's no chance City would be in the market for him now if he was playing for anyone else, he was a cheap teenage punt who's turned out to be useful because he plugs a few gaps in their squad and can turn in 6/7 out of 10 most of the time. Those players come along from time to time, they get to play at a level above their true ability through a mixture of flexibility, reliability and to an extent being in the right place at the right time.

He’s Ukraine’s best player by miles. He’d be fantastic for us. But we wouldn’t pay what’s needed and he wouldn’t come to us now we’re crap. He wouldn't come when we were good.

He wanted to fight for his Man City place. That's commendable rather than something to bash him with.
Not sure if you thought it was me that was bashing him. For the record, I’m not - he’s excellent, but as I rightly pointed out he’s not coming here.

We're being linked to Nathan Collins again (in The Sun). I don't actually know that much about him tbh, would he be the right profile for us?

Because when we first wanted him he felt he could still get into his preferred midfield position at City. And so he wanted to fight for that.

Now it’s clear that won’t happen so his mind may be different

I like him, ball playing centre half who can play in a 2 or a 3. I'm not sure about his pace though, difficult to work that out with a Burnley centre half. With other competition I reckon he goes for north of £20m, so doesn't fit our profile, so I doubt there's anything in it

I like him, Stoke fans thought he was like John Stones.

Liam Keen appears to be contactless. Follows every story broken by a reliable journalist 2 days later with his own saying the E&S understands. He's on Hoever today

The report I heard from a Stoke fan who knows his stuff - rare I know - was he was far too good for Stoke and had everything you want in a CH which is why I wanted us to sign him last year. He was half the price of Botman too.

Isn’t the other centre back, who had an injury, meant to be very good too? Souttar?

I would think we could offer cash plus Sanderson to Burnley in a Jota / Hoever arrangement.

Jota and Hoever were seperate deals. We asked for him, when they wanted Jota, but he wasn't a makeweight, we wanted him!

Why would Burnley want Sanderson?
