Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Yeah, but i think the change to this plan has come as a result of Fosun struggling since covid.
We use Covid as a reason but not sure it impacted us as much as they state (using a scale of 1 to Everton, we are probably a 4).
Fosun wiped out our debt to them to help on that front, in terms of our accounts.

It's mainly Jeff's masterplan which is to make us an investment opportunity for others.
So he wants us to do all the things off the pitch to increase a brand and maintain a Prem League team and have zero debt. Making the Sports/Entertainment Division of Fosun not just about the football team but all linked to the name, then we get investors or we go down the route of shares.
It's a great plan that can crumble easily if the football team is neglected.

He's a fucking idiot.

Hoping to get investment whilst he retains control is for the birds.lookat Arsenal and Everton for how that works.

His rambling about floating us showed how inept he is. Clubs don't float anymore and not when global shares are nosediving and America has entered a Bear market.

I was they'd just sell us as Fosun are in deep shit with China's own financial crash looming if that article is right. Fosun could well be the next Lehman Brothers or Bear Stearns.

Not just floating a football club though, so some awareness there.
Even going off the short term plan, it will be 2024 before its even considered.

Not saying I agree with him here, just giving my opinion on what I have taken from his words and actions.

Like I said a few posts ago, if Fosun are in the shit we will soon know about it from reports on them offering the club around for a quick offload. Regardless of that though I don't think it is the reason behind how we are currently doing our transfer dealings. That is down to a man with little inside football knowledge surrounding himself with similar people and hoping Jorge can help out.

Could be a case of being careful what you wish for - most people who want to buy football clubs are utter shysters

I don't think Fosun are terrible owners, they have made some PR mistakes but on the whole they have been good for the club.

They do want us to succeed and they have lifted us out of championship obscurity with giving us some of the best players I have ever witnessed at the mol.

Like most the transfer and apparent reluctance to invest in the squad/ground is a growing concern and the general direction of travel appears to have stalled, but there are many many clubs with worse owners than us. We were always going to be an investment and as such would be run to that model, the cash billionaire owners with a desire to fritter it away are few and far between.

Benfica have announced they are signing Fernandez for 10m plus 8m in add ons

Signing 75% though aren't they? That wouldn't be allowed here.

Kin hell, we aren't signing anyone are we* all these rumours are just shit.

*who goes into the first team.

It's highly unlikely we'll know about Fosun or the wider Chinese economy collapsing until it does. Just like our financial crash.

I agree our transfer policy (and club itself) is being run by somebody completely clueless though.

Whadyamean, we've signed Hwang.

Edit: We signed 1 first team player last season that hadn't been already at the club. And that player Sa, was an absolute necessity.

I honestly wonder when people are going to realise that this bunch are the parasites TT mentioned.

I would have no issue with Jeff if he just did what he was good at and employed decent people around him to cover his weak areas.

That's how he started off, regardless of thoughts on Kevin T he did a solid job (not spectacular) and Laurie had other stuff well under control.
Jeff just did the signing off. We were all happy, even if it meant he had spare time and would say anything to media when asked.

Those 2 went and his restructure where he makes the calls on everything with what appear to be yes men just delighted to have these roles feeding him what he wants.

When somebody shows you what they are you should believe them.

It was always Jeff's strategy to have complete control. His hiring of staff has been nothing short of horrific

Now he has shown us we can see how terrible he is.

Yep, we signed Trincao on loan, signed Sa because we had to with Rui leaving and then later on got Hwang on loan. That's why when people complain about "patience" it doesn't really wash any more. If it was a load of spoilt cunts whinging in the face evidence that supports the club getting it right I'd understand, but the fact is the club has had average to awful windows ever since the first season after promotion.

I am in the same boat as TT was saying the other day where apathy has set in and I'm just resigned to it now for another season.
