Summer 2022 Transfer Window

So you think £40m on Nunes (or similar) solves our goalscoring problems in a 343 whilst also not making us more more susceptible to conceding?

Not sure about solves but we would carry more threat with the ball and his pressing would mean we get the ball back higher up the pitch.

He can’t press on his own. He also can’t press without CBs playing high up the pitch unless your expecting Neves to cover the width of the pitch on his own? He’s also not going to score 15 goals a season

I tell you what I’d do. I’d spend that £40m on Palhinha and a CB. I’d play 4231 with with fullbacks as fullbacks, wingers as wingers, 10s as 10s and a 9 as a 9 rather than one player for £40m (who won’t actually come in the end), to try and cover the deficiencies of 7 other players, which in all likelihood won’t make a fat lot of difference.

That might work if the centre half we got for 20m was world class, even if he is we still wouldn't score many more than we do now by adding MGW instead of a defender so we'd still need a really good quality attacking midfielder.

“World class” 🤣. Bang average would do.

I’d like to sign a top quality #10 too but we’ve got no money… So let’s use one of the best players in the championship instead who is free…

So back to my original point. My proposal would be more successful than your just signing Nunes proposal playing 343 badly with players out of position

Well, we don't even know if we have a centre half capable of playing in a back 4 in the pl, Kilman might be able to but the rest I doubt. We'd have Palhinha ambling about kicking people giving away hundreds of freekicks and a very shaky defence.

I wouldn't be playing 343. Our wide players don't understand how to properly play as an inside forward and just end up in the space our wingbacks should be attacking.

Well one midfielder isn’t going to fix all those issues. So the long way round you agree with me. Thank you for your time.

It doesn't but it has a positive impact, signing palhinha and an average CB would have a negative impact and see us likely conceded loads more goals for very little attacking gain. So no, I don't agree.

In an ideal world, we'd do it your way with quality additions who improve us but we aren't going to spend the money. Palhinha doesn't even get in our best side as it stands.

Go on then I’ll have another go.

Signing one midfielder (isolating his immobile partner), whilst still having ineffective forwards who can’t play the role, WBs who can’t play the role, isolated central striker and CBs stopping you pressing will have little/no impact.

I have no idea how anyone could think otherwise. Whereas signing a couple of players and playing to the strengths of 7 other players, might, just might be the way to go.

Why would we have an isolated central striker when hes playing in a front 2? 352, Neves as a single defensive midfielder with Nunes and either moutinho or MGW depending on opponent. I don't think our wbs would be ineffective if they didn't have someone who doesn't understand how to play their role stood in the space they should be attacking

I would go and get Nico from Barca on loan with an option to buy.

Buy a powerful CB like Collins from Burnley who can play in a two.

Switch to 4-3-3 and the Gegenpress.

Sell MGW, Traore and Podence.

Sign a quality inside forward.

Fuck Lage off and go and get a German called Rose.

All for about £25m net.

I admire the consistency. The players can't get the ball over the line on the pitch and the 'management' can't get a transfer over the line either. A match made in heaven

Jonny, this is a good post, I’m 100% behind you, with the the exception on selling Pod, but also 100% that none of these will happen

Currently we are in a surreal Wolves universe, polarised by the thought that everything will be okay by the start of the season to the ‘Frazerism’that ‘we’re doomed’

Fact is that we all want something to just happen, anything, cuz the SM negativity is crucifying us at the moment

I’m personally not an over-reactor but we do need evolution not revolution, which I think you are advocating. Unfortunately we are owned buy Chinese and they don’t think in these terms.

Have a beer or two mate 👍 people paid much more than us should have the sleepless nights, we’re just the supporters, who are we ?

Yeah, those Chinese sure are weird 🙄
If this particular set of Chinese people don't want to be seen as weird, then they should stop doing weird things.

What the living FUCK is that doing on the main site of a Premier League football club?! And written in such a terribly earnest style as well. It's like bad fan fiction from a 12 year old wrestling fan come to life.

(They have some extra written Wolves-based content at the moment that is so bad that I haven't commented on it purely as I think it'd just be mean, and I'm not mean for the sake of it. But it really is bad)

In more prosaic matters, they never properly announced season ticket prices for existing ticket holders. They haven't announced them for new customers either. And we sold a player this month, guess what? Didn't announce it. Two of our first team players left on a free and told everyone they were leaving before the club got round to it.

Their communications are a disaster zone.

I like pretty much all this Johnny, nicely done.

And I particularly want the “German called Rose”.

I gave absolutely no idea who he is but - yes - let’s have him and quick - he absolutely can’t be any worse than the bumbling lunatic we’ve got now.

Yeah, those Chinese sure are weird 🙄
I think it's a fair point. I don't think there's a single Chinese football club owner past or present that has understood football.

Certainly in the UK.

Parasites, I want them gone and yes I understand the inevitable be careful what you wish for posts that will follow. Shi thinks our PL place is secure so can dick around with his side hussles, he doesn't understand football, never will and is about to get his arse smacked. It would be funny if it didn't actually hurt us more than it will him

I would say that it is simply the wrong stick to beat them with. There’s plenty of other ammunition lying around to be directed their way.
