Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Parasites, I want them gone and yes I understand the inevitable be careful what you wish for posts that will follow. Shi thinks our PL place is secure so can dick around with his side hussles, he doesn't understand football, never will and is about to get his arse smacked. It would be funny if it didn't actually hurt us more than it will him
The "we were in League One less than 10 years ago, you know" argument is utterly redundant so I wouldn't worry about that being thrown at you.

I know what they want. They want a club that pretty much manages itself, doesn't ever get itself in too much danger of relegation, and if we do better than muddling around in mid-table then that's a bonus. Fine, I'm ok with that and it's doable, within reason.

Things you need:

1) A proper manager
2) A proper executive team

Things you need to sign off on:

1) The club spending the money that it earned itself, without any input from you

Things you need to concentrate on:

1) Not disillusioning the thousands of fans who watch the team week in, week out
2) The first team, because everything else is secondary, no matter how much a short man in a cheap suit might insist otherwise

They are failing on every single one of the above points.

Wrong stick?
There’s plenty wrong with how they’ve managed the club that I don’t think needs to be viewed through the lens of nationalism in that way.

I won’t kick up further fuss about it, just makes me a shade uncomfortable.

I think it is relevant in that it's a cultural thing that I've never seen a Chinese owner manage to grasp how football works.

To me it's no surprise we're now struggling as the owners man in charge just isn't equipped culturally to cope with what is happening.

It would be the same with a UK person going out to China to manage a Chinese business knowing nothing about Chinese business or China itself.

He was doing ok while Thelwell and Dalrymple were there. Just oversee what they were doing and sign it all off. Neither of those two are/were anything like top tier calibre within their individual sphere but they had some limited ability and both knew the club, the industry, the culture around football. I didn't mind losing either if you replaced them with better. Or replaced them at all. We haven't. At all.

I said it a year ago after those disastrous AskWolves interviews (this year's weren't much better, overshadowed this time by our alleged Head Coach garbling absolute shit for an hour), our executive team would look poor at a League One club. Absolutely everyone there - and we don't have anything like enough people on board for an organisation of this size, but that's another argument - is a minimum of a full level above where they should be based on expertise, experience, presentation, results, you name it. In the case of Vinny Cunt, they're not even in the same ballpark where their past experience lies. Like giving Gordon Brittas the keys to GCHQ.

Dalrymple leaving was like Stearman leaving in 2015. Fine, you've served your purpose, off you go if you have a better offer. But you can't just leave the gaping hole and hope it'll be ok. It won't be.

A lot of the damage caused since 2020 could be fixed by binning off Benfica B Bruno and appointing a proper manager. It's the very simplest of fixes. But apparently no, we can't do that.

If it was stupid a year ago to sack a good manager and appoint someone who is a nobody in the grand scheme of things and had very little experience, imagine a year on knowing that he's a fucking shit manager, who is a nobody in the grand scheme of things and has very little experience, who has since fallen out with sections of the squad, and yet you keep him. It goes beyond stupid.

If this particular set of Chinese people don't want to be seen as weird, then they should stop doing weird things.

Exhibit A: https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/esports/2022-06-22-tadpole-retires-from-competitive-rocket-league/

What the living FUCK is that doing on the main site of a Premier League football club?! And written in such a terribly earnest style as well. It's like bad fan fiction from a 12 year old wrestling fan come to life.
I only visit the club’ website for tickets but that is almost unbelievable. I can’t think of anything I care about less than Tadpole and esports. Even allowing for the fact it is a quiet time of year for news it is appalling and probably says more about the direction of travel than anything they have done yet. Next up will be a link to a Korean translation...

Fosun currently have an asset worth at least a couple of hundred million and if they don’t want to see that value crash they should concentrate on the core business. With the current direction of travel relegation is not likely, it is inevitable. It’s just a matter of when not if. Jose Sa’s massive over performance last season has lead to huge complacency and it is depressing to think that we’re extremely unlikely to see anything close to a 7th place finish under Fosun ever again.

It’s depressing because we can see how it all will pan out unfortunately the ones running the club don’t.
Problem is Bruno by rather luck than judgement slightly improved points and league position so gives Jeff a feeling of vindication.
A better manager wouldn’t stand for what the club is doing probably a reason why Nuno was made to leave.
Now would be a good time for Fosun to sell up, club is clearly more valuable than when purchased.
Said it before only 6 clubs are only ever guaranteed PL status the rest of us run the risk of relegation based poor transfers, injuries and incompetent running of the club.
First team performance is the absolute priority of the club, it’s what keeps your revenue up above anything else.
Fans just don’t care about Esports, merchandise and even the stadium is secondary.
A well performing first team resolves a lot of other issues and keeps fans happy.
I think there’s and assumption that we’ll just come mid table again and everything will be fine.
They really are in for a shock when we’re fighting relegation and have the fan base in open revolt.

There seems to be a new myth doing the rounds that the club announce signings out of the blue. Just posted on Twitter - this hardly ever happens. In fact the only one I can think of is the Mosquera deal and that would most likely have been down to where he signed from. I think Trincao was a surprise when it happened but we had definitely already been linked with him.

You don't get all that many deals that fly under the radar these days with the way the media is/social media. Probably won't be popular as there are a lot of fans that are clinging onto the hope we are quite far down the line that nobody has got wind of but its unlikely.

Yeah, especially with where we are now, anyone good enough for the first team will be reported on by Romano before it happens.

I dont think we’re signing anyone unless Neves leaves. Best case scenario right now is Moutinho stays and we don’t lose anyone else. How exciting!

Says a lot when you look at all the other clubs in the division and their managers and I think it’s fair to say we’ve got the joint worst along with Lampard and Marsch probably.
Biggest fear next season is we get of to a decent start but fall apart a lot quicker meaning we get sucked into the relegation fight which we’ll be completely clueless to combat.

Whatever happens the squad won’t be improving if Neves leaves don’t expect his replacement to be of better quality if he stays then it’s very unlikely we’ll bring in many if any first team ready players.
The hierarchy through their own doing are creating a perfect storm for a toxic Molineux next season.
The best case scenario is we have a serious flirt with relegation but survive and it wakes up a lot people at the club and kills off the complacency.

I think we all know Neves wants to leave, but what happens if he stays? His talent on the pitch won't be enough and his value continues to depreciate. He's not the type to sulk, but equally signing a new contract isn't a given either.

I don't think we as a fan base over rate him, but his value puts him in rarifeld air when it comes to the number of clubs who can spend that money - PL Big 6, PSG, Bayern, RM, Barcelona, Juventus, that's probably it. All of which appear to not have an interest or have other targets ahead of him

We suspected previously, but now the whole world knows our transfer business is reliant on that sale, which in itself means it's in the interests of other clubs to hold back, even more so if they want to land an alternative player. Deciding (because it is a decision) you need that money for a squad rebuild yet not having that deal in place for early in the window is just another naive fuck up.

The thing is, from the squad we had a couple of seasons ago, sell to buy need not have been disastrous had it not started with Jota, Doherty and and £20m out, and Semedo, Silva and Hoever in. We got the shit end of sales and brought in three players who are now worth half (at best) what we paid for them

For sell to buy to work properly, you need to be selling players at their peak value, indeed when they're if anything, overvalued.

So we should have sold Adama in 2020 rather than getting sucked into his three month purple patch and in the process alienating Jota.

This policy will never work when you don't have people with the requisite knowledge and skill at the club. We absolutely do not. Although it is also on Nuno, that one.

I don't particularly want another Docscussion but that was the right move. Way too limited as a player, wait any later and he'd be too old to sell for anything tangible. Semedo wasn't the right replacement as he's too expensive for what he is (I do like him though, and he's miles better than Doherty, it's just not making your money work very well for you. It's like only having £15 to spend on food for the week and punting it all on two M&S ready meals).

I reckon semedo's two seasons of meh and our current sqaud/financial sitch mean that most would press 'undo' on that swap on that trade tbf.
That's incredibly harsh on Semedo imo, probably one of our better signings in the last couple of seasons. Maybe he was a bit over priced but not much. He's probably been our best defender last season. Ok he's not as good going forward as I'd hoped but 'meh', that's just plain wrong imo.

I'd say he was quite a bit overpriced tbh. I think he is decent for where we are but hes simply never a 30m plus player in a million years.

He'll cost £23m in the end as we aren't hitting the add ons to make the £30m+ number, which according to Spiers were linked to Wolves' progression in Europe

He's a decent full back, shame we don't play with full backs
