Summer 2022 Transfer Window

He's not going to sign, he's turned us & West Ham down. He was always out of our league from the start.
The only way he does - and for clarity I don’t think we'd pay the fee anyway, is if he wants PL money over the CL now rather than in the future and takes what he sees as the best option for that. Seems he's on City's and Liverpool's radars, but not for now

According to Bruno Andrade Sporting accepted an offer from West Ham but Nunes turned down an offer that was x6 his current deal.

He wants to go straight into a Liverpool/City level club and to be fair to him he's probably good enough.

I'm not convinced he is good enough to walk in either of their sides. Also, didn't west ham only offer £30m which is significantly less than the reported release clause.

Fair play to him for having the self belief he does but I predict not moving to the PL when his stock is this high will turn out to be a massive error.

I don't think his stock is going to get higher than now unless he starts to seriously contribute to goals and I'm not sure he's ever going to do that. I've nothing really to base it on other than gut feeling but I do watch a lot of Liga Portugal as its my most profitable betting stream.

Well he’s not going to become shit is he? The offer of PL football isn’t going to disappear, so coming here and failing / being no more than decent is going to be a bigger risk than going straight to Liverpool/City.

At the end of the day, if he’s as good as everyone says he is then whether he stays there or not is going to make fuck all difference

I don't actually believe either of them want him now, if they did they'd have him and if he doesn't convince them next season that chance is likely gone.

I think they are waiting to see him show more and I'm not sure that he can. He's quite a strange player to describe as he's a quality footballer but.he doesn't really do that much at either end of the pitch.

Il be honest, I don’t know an awful lot about him apart from he’s highly rated. Can think
Of a few examples of players leaving there to early. Sometimes it bodes well to stay there, ply your trade, and move when you’re slightly older with some more experience behind you.

With how highly he is thought of, I don’t see his stock really falling. If he has a bad year or so then teams like West Ham, us etc will likely still be interested and take a punt.

If he had city, Liverpool, madrid etc all queuing up to sign him then I’d say his stock isn’t going to get higher. Isn’t the case currently

So worse case he will just go to Wolves/West Ham next year like he could this year. So no massive error then…

Depends on your viewpoint. I personally think forgoing millions to end up doing the thing you turned them down for, a huge error. Not to mention moving to a side who will expect astronomical sums should he prove to be good enough to make that move. He's likely in a.position now to dictate his contract terms,.including release clauses.

Transfers to elite sides are all about timing, Jota is a prime example of this, would Liverpool have been interested if we had paid 40 odd million and wanted 100m+?

Seems harsh to me. The guy clearly has an idea of where he wants to play football if not in Portugal; fair play to him for sticking to his guns when there's silly money being chucked at him.

Said this in my original post. Respect his conviction, I just have a gut feeling he's going to regret doing so.

I think that if we're going to get him, it's going to be in the last knockings of the window, and the signing of a 'prospect' in that position will probably happen either way

There are far worse places to spend a career than Sporting Lisbon.
