The Championship Thread 2018/19

Schteve must be close to an early sacking at QPR

Such a very strange appointment in the first place. I actually think Ollie is a better fit for them and you know what I think of him.

Holloway wasn't doing THAT badly at QPR to be fair. He's an idiot but was surprised when he left/was sacked.

He's an idiot and their away record was pretty dire but looking at it from the outside it seemed like Holloway did the job that was required of him last year - get midtable, lower wage bill, bring some younger players through. Got his tactics right for the game at Loftus Road and the second half at Molineux too. For the Championship I think he can do a decent job if you ignore the bizarre personality. Better than McClaren for sure. But then Ollie only left for personal reasons, you would just have to blame the board for getting an even bigger moron after being freed from the first.

Martin Olsson has been very bad today, has reminded me of Doherty save for the one time he found McBurnie with a cross.

Oh right, I couldn't remember whether he was sacked or he walked. Fair enough. Agree, McClaren was a good coach at one point but he's a weird guy and not really a 'manager' not nowadays anyway.

2-2 Leeds equalise

I've never liked him. Horrible little shit when it isn't going his way as well.

Been watching Derby v Ipswich. The quality on show was horrendous. Both teams couldn't pass water. Then Derby got two quick goals to kill the game. Good long-ranger from Ledley then a set-piece from Lawrence.

Still not convinced by Derby under Lampard, though they have enough quality in the likes of Ledley, Lawrence, Mount and Bennett to drag them through most games. Still interested to see how Marriott does too, he scored shed loads at Peterborough.

I've got to say I was amazed by how well Shrews did last season. I had them nailed on for bottom four. But the only time I ever saw them was in the playoffs.

If they'd been up against a better manager than Brexit Bowyer then I suspect they'd never have made it to Wembley.

We know you haven't got to be great in L1 to be successful, we certainly weren't until Ken had an epiphany and stopped playing 4-4-2 with Griff and Doyler up top.

Double relegation on the cards at Stoke? Ive got 6 mates who are season ticket holders there and none went tonight.

No chance, situation is nowhere near as bad as Sunderland when it come to playing staff or owners. And as we all know it took a monumental twat to get us relegated despite how bad things were.

I wanted Rowett when we binned Zenga, but two things at the end of last season made me realise he's not up to it with a club with expectation. The first was against us when Derby came out shit scared and beaten before the game started. I'd say they were the only team last year who looked like they knew they'd lost before kick off.

The second was the play off semi first leg when they took the lead. He spent the second half playing for a 1-0, when away goals counted for nothing and Fulham had cracking home form. That was cowardly and gutless. He's the reason I didn't back Stoke at the start of the season. They won't go down though.

I thought they'd do well when I was looking at the squads a month or so before the season started, but McClean and Williams were horrific signings. It seems Williams is exactly the same as last season, all ability gone and continually being a fucking knob spoiling for fights, just a division lower. McClean is a joke of a footballer, I wouldn't want him if I were managing Telford. Stoke fans seem incredulous that he's persistently picking Fletcher who was finished a couple of years ago and it looks like Shawcross is done as well.

I bet Ben is checking that contract is iron clad or we'll have him decreeing his love for us again in January, we'll just consign August 2018 to the January 2016 never happened bin.

Stoke were awful today, I saw opponents with less freedom with Simon Osborne running the show than Wigan had tonight. Rowett has no excuses this season, his thoughts after PNE were bemusing, too.
