I still think we are flat track bullies in the main. Especially at test level and we are woeful on turning pitches , absolutely dreck. We also do not have the next Broad or Anderson coming through as they are a tough act to follow. Our top three in tests is technically very poor and none fill me with confidence. Hopefully Athertons son Josh de Caires who scored 118 v Yorkshire yesterday can kick on over the next two years as we need a new solid young batsman up top. Watch him with interest.
I am pissed off to lose as I detest Kohli. He is an arse.

You say we're bad on turning pitches but we've beaten Sri Lanka five times in a row away from home?

We just aren't as good as India at present, the end.

No, Sri Lanka haven’t replaced muraly. Nathan Lyon causes chaos if it’s a turning pitch when he bowls and he is only a decent bowler , not a great one. Sri Lanka’s spinners and current batting are meh at best. India are a fantastic side but we know how they will set up yet we bemoan when they serve up a dust bowl and stuff us as we can’t bat on it. We can’t be 20 for 3 as often as we have been in the last three years abroad and hope to be world number 1 in that format.

Nathan Lyon averages 30.52 against England. It's ok, not great.

Silverwood has addressed some of our batting issues, you have to give him time, especially given how little exposure Sibley/Crawley/Pope/Lawrence in particular have had to date. Bayliss didn't give a shit about the Test team, but those days are gone.

We won't be number one in Tests for some time as we aren't good enough.

I think I agree. Lyon averages better than his overall average against England. Not by much. I am concerned how many top order batsmen at test level for England have technical flaws that can be exposed by average to good attacks regardless of country. Sibley Burns Crawley Bairstow all have significant deficiencies that have been obvious for a while but not removed. I will give Silverwood time but that quartet need to address their flaws quickly. Crawley is probably the easiest fix. Burns is almost unfixable! Sibley not far behind. Bairstow should not be anywhere near the test side. But then who is stepping up? Crawley is new so may get another year to prove himself. Test standard technique is very thin on the ground imho

There's more than a hint of Hoggard about Liam Norwell. The live streaming is decent quality this season.

Forgot it was the first day of the season today, what with it being baltic outside.
