The F1 Thread

If what Nando says above is true and they didn’t try to do it until 2 August I sense a monster court Barney incoming
The complete absence of any form of comment or acknowledgement from Piastri or his team says it all. They had no choice but to come out and announce him today after Otmar's howler of an interview this morning. No doubt this one is going to run.

It will get even more interesting if Seb says enough is enough and Alonso moves straight over to Aston before we resume again.

That's a fair shout, I did notice his feed was blank...hmm

Why would you want to leave Alpine for Aston? And why would you pick Aston over Alpine?

Aston are investing more behind the scenes (not cost cap controlled) than just about anybody. I'm no fan of where that money is coming from, but that is the situation. The likelihood of that investment putting them in contention in the next couple of years is close to nil, but they'll probably match and pass Alpine in that time period.

There's no team who flatter to deceive like Alpine and no team who make vast structural changes each and every year like they do, to no benefit. There's never any continuity because the Renault top dogs are always querying whether to bin F1 off.

Piastri refuses to replace Alonso. This is is going to be a mess and a half.

If Alpine are only offering you one year in F1 before putting you out to pasture in WEC; whilst Aston are offering two - three years on more money...

Plus there's the amusement factor of making Lance Stroll cry and whine every fortnight.

Will make a good episode of Drive To Survive at least.

I was only looking at it from a “who’s the better team standpoint.

Alpine the best of the rest and Aston are fodder. But i didn’t know the efforts Aston were putting in and vice versa Alpine.

As an aside, I doubt money Comes into Alonso’s thinking. Like Harry Kane would rather stay at Spurs than join Bournemouth on more money. Also if he’s still performing after his year deals up surely someone would give him a seat?

Feel that burn from Taunton Town Alpine, feel it

Danny Ric informed that McLaren intend to replace him with Piastri.

In a surprise to no-one, Ricciardo leaving confirmed for the end of the season now. They could have done this cleanly a month ago. Feels very messy.

Power unit grid penalties for both Verstappen and Leclerc. Good news for Hamilton you would imagine.

And Norris, Ocon, Bottas and Schumacher.

Might tempt other to follow suit if their competition is at the back of the grid.

You would think that Red Bull and Ferrari will move hell and high water to ensure that Checo and Carlos don't take penalties this week. They will probably take them at Zandvoort.

Plenty of overtaking opportunities on a power track. Could still win the race from the back of the grid

And that is why Spa is so brilliant. Best bit of news today was hearing it is definitely in the 2023 calendar.
