The Film Thread

Anyone got any film recommendations? Wife is away tonight so I have free reign of the tv, this doesn’t happen often… was thinking green knight, but that might be a bit too heavy after slogging my way through and England match beforehand.

It's been around a good while so you might already have seen it but Hidden Figures is worth a watch.

What sort of film you after? You seen The Prestige?

Yes to the Prestige.

Honestly not that fussed, will watch most things - very rare I actually watch a film though.

Phantom Of The Open is a good one I've watched recently. Based on a true story. Marc Rylance plays a beginner golfer who blags his way into qualifying for the British Open

Depends if you like golf.

Nobody. Good way to pass time and Bob Odenkirk is brilliant in it. Nothing to tax the grey matter either.

Going to give the Courier a go after reading back in this thread.

Going to like this, a middle aged businessman who travels and drinks a fair bit. What’s not to love 😂

He’s already used one of my lines ‘I’m not here to tell you how to run your industry, just to talk about how we can work together’. Such a cheesy nob.

Is it any good? It’s one I’ve been contemplating watching but never got round to.

It’s alright, not bad at all. Would probably have been better watching Tinker Tailor again though.

Went to see Top Gun Maverick this afternoon. A bit like Ghostbusters last year I loved it because of the call backs to my youth. It's ridiculous on numerous levels, but good fun and surprisingly emotional. No spoilers, but Goose is still dead

Got dragged to the pictures by the missus today to see Top Gun 2. I was a bit meh about going. It was much like the original, ridiculous story, ott acting, mawkishly sentimental at times, predictable ending.....it was great fun, enjoyed it very much.
Yeah we went a couple of weeks ago, it's fun and entertaining.

Everything Everywhere All At Once.

In one sense it's a very clever and well constructed film, but in another its just a haphazard mess. Weirdest film I've seen in a long time. No idea how to rate it or if I even enjoyed it.

Definitely agree with that bit, absolute madness.

The Northman.

Can't say I really liked it and I was mostly bored. I'm sure it's very authentic, but it just felt like a long old haul for not much at the end.
