You'd need 14 clubs to sign off on the relegation, I can't see them even getting a simple majority for that. Sky 6 are safe along with Everton from a historical perspective, every one else is one shit season from going down

You need 14 clubs to sign off on it - unless this proposal happens and then they could do what they want. Surely the rest wouldn’t agree to that.

With better distribution of money the damage of relegation is reduced I guess.

It's a stupid solution. Giving clubs more money to do exactly the same thing.

If you give addicts more of what they're addicted to you are unlikely to help them control their addiction.

Thankfully it'll be binned for those turkeys not wishing to vote for Christmas

You need 14 sides to agree to this considering a good portion of the league first priority is to survive can’t see it passing any vote. Attitude of most the big 6 clubs to the rest of the PL clubs seems to be one of “just be happy you’re here” and “be happy you get to play us”
Believe me if your glass ceiling is 7th and only 1 cup to win which in reality will be won by a top 6 side interest will dwindle.

Good article on this in the athletic today - massive power grab by the top 6, would mean they could theoretically change everything later as they would control the six votes needed - distribution of money, changes to league structure, removal of relegation, veto on owners - would just make the league a complete stitch up.

There are good points to the proposals, but frankly they come across as bribes to grease the wheels of what they really want- control for the Big 6, complete with an eye on a European Super League down the tracks.

One of the other clubs should bring out identical proposals with the Big 6 veto stripped out, see where their priorities really are.

Its all bollocks, the fact of helping clubs further down the pyramid is all very good but it’s so transparent what the real motivation of this is.
4 less league games and no league cup more time for a European super league.
Taking 25% of revenue from other PL clubs and no parachute payments means clubs having far weaker squads. Especially if FFP is still in place.
6 clubs can vote against new owners of other clubs taking over, could vote to stop relegation etc
Almost certain they’ll demand a bigger cut of any TV revenue also.
Basically to sum up they want a world where they’ve got a 66% chance of CL football and at worse EL football.
Apparently West Ham, Everton and Southampton will be given extra powers to just because they’ve had the longest unbroken runs in the PL.

Possibly the stupidest bit.

West Ham have been relegated inside the last 10 years. Both they and Southampton have been in the PL a whole one unbroken year longer than Palace.

Since 1992, both Villa and Newcastle have spent more time in the PL than either West Ham or Southampton. They are both objectively bigger clubs by pretty much every measure too.

If they'd had this idea back in 2012 or so, Wigan probably would have qualified FFS.

Whilst one or two ideas have some merit the whole purpose of those is to create a Harrods Christmas window display to hide the real purpose which is the concentration of power and control to 6 sides who, at the moment, are at the top (but without doubt haven't always been) & have the deepest pockets so as to prevent anyone else making any incursion onto what they see as their destiny.

So blatant that it is transparant.

Sounds like an idea to get more teams on board, first things proposed is less relegation. Complete self serving idea.
It’s like creating a dictatorship within football with no chance of an overhaul. 6 clubs living in luxury and dictating to the other 84 how to exist. This while living in a state of equilibrium very little chance of Armageddon but very little chance of glory.

Thing is that it's not really proposing much less relegation - 2 still go from the PL & the 3rd team into the playoffs with 3 Championship clubs (and we know what a lottery those can be)

For now, that can easily be moved with new voting powers it’s something Southampton and West Ham can argue for with more power. Reality is if this was to go through if you came 8th in the PL you’d probably be closer in quality to the sides in the championship than the top 6 in the PL. they talk about bridging gap between EFL and PL. This creates just another gap between the top 6 and the rest you then would have clubs trying to bridge that and facing financial problems. All it does is move the gap further up the food chain.

I’m not sure it gives much to West Ham, Southampton and Everton - it’s all set up for the big six to be able to decide what they want - the other three are just making up the numbers but their votes don’t mean anything at all if the big boys stick together.

Quite . If six of the nine want something they can bulldoze it through.

The other 3 are only there to make it look a bit more like democracy - they will have no impact whatsoever

They must think everyone else is stupid

The 3 are there in case one of the 6 goes rogue so that one can be bribed by the others.

One will only go rogue if they are winning everything ala Bayern or PSG and see it as a chance to bin the other 5 off - otherwise they'll just stick together
