The only way this is stopped is if no one watches it and / or players from the big 12 refuse to play.

One relies on people preferring to watch "poorer" games and the other relies on players / staff refusing the biggest of big bucks.

Football is dead

Let them go, let them have their franchises and money.

If the results in anything other than them going, or complete and utter capitalisation by them then football will be irretrievably damaged.

They could leave the PL and join the EFL.

I can't see the EFL turning down the amount of money they'd bring in. Kills the PL stone dead too, big 6 can negotiate with the EFL and get an even bigger cut of TV money.

The reason the closed shop method works in the NFL is the salary cap and the draft, so with good management you can turn around a bad team in a couple of years. Without either of those where's the interest for the fans of the perpetual also rans?

Surely, UEFA and FIFA can kill it dead by banning players from Internationals? They'll be a sizable percentage that won't want to lose the opportunity to play in World Cups

UEFA also threatening to remove the 12 from the list of winners. Petty and meaningless but the PL should do the same and remove the 6 from their finishing positions since the PL was formed, apparently these would be the new "winners"

92/93: Aston Villa 93/94: Blackburn 94/95: Blackburn 95/96: Newcastle 96/97: Newcastle 97/98: Leeds 98/99: Leeds 99/00: Leeds 00/01: Leeds 01/02: Newcastle 02/03: Newcastle 03/04: Newcastle 04/05: Everton 05/06: Blackburn 06/07: Everton, 07/08: Everton 08/09: Everton 09/10: Aston Villa 10/11: Everton 11/12: Newcastle 12/13: Everton 13/14: Everton 14/15: Southampton 15/16: Leicester 16/17: Everton 17/18: Burnley 18/19: Wolves 19/20: Leicester

To be honest I am all for that as long as we got a bus parade. Bring on the petty behavior PL, bring it on

The Gary Neville video sums it up for me perfectly, watched all 9 minutes of it last night.

I was already falling out of love for football after this sterile year and the bullshit of VAR, just another nail in the coffin really.

What I will say though is last year I started going down to watch my local tier 7 team Basford and I fucking love it down there and will more than likely just continue watching at that kind of level.

Minimal intervention, can stand at the side of the pitch and have a beer whilst you watch and it just feels a bit more...honest? If that is the right word.

225 CL games each season in a 36 team league with 4 places available for clubs with a good, historical, coefficient. I.e you finish 12th but you have a good history so we'll pop you in over a "minnow" who finished higher in the respective league

Worried about this. There aren't many scenarios where unconscionable greed and power doesn't find some way of winning through

Isn't it amazing that this all happens when four of the Sky Six aren't in the CL places? All of a sudden, us, Leicester, West Ham, Everton, Leeds and Villa are all ambitious and looking like we might all make things difficult for them despite their already massive financial doping from the CL; so they're running scared off into a closed league.

According to Susie Dent, “Word of the day is ‘ingordigiousness’: extreme greed; an insatiable desire for wealth at any cost.”

Someone should make an emotional appeal to the ESL about our '50s floodlit friendlies and see if we can nab Tottenham's space...

They've got some fucking front haven't they?

Two League Cup wins in 30 years and feel they're entitled to sit at the elite table.

I guess this also solves the Doherty debate once and for all when he starts against Real Madrid.

It’s absolutely bloody outrageous.

Fuck them. Fuck all 12 of them. Have your shitty little club, and leave the rest of us to it, you absolute shite-hawks. Fuck off into your own sterile little competition where you play the same teams over and over and over again, for crowds who don’t give a fuck, for a championship that’s made up.

Just fuck off.

I don’t care if it means that the money in English football is halved, in fact I’d fucking prefer it. Imagine a league where 15 clubs actually had a chance of winning the title every pre-season! It’d be fucking magic. Let them go; restructure English football so there’s salary caps, limits on ticket costs, and just bring the game back. I don’t care about the ‘quality of the product’, as long as there’s integrity and competition.

So just fuck off. And I tell you what, when you do fuck off, the whole venture will never see a penny from me. I’ll boycott anybody that advertises with you or sponsors you. The TV company that partners with will never see a penny. You don’t deserve our game, you absolute wankers. So just fuck off.
