NFTs are to my eyes a load of shite anyway, but the gimmick here is essentially it just locks in a price at sale and you simply cannot sell it for lower than that. So technically it always has at least the value you paid. But that's of absolutely bugger all use if no-one else wants to pay it. It's a fucking ridiculous idea.

Like me setting up a car dealership and saying I'm the first ever person to offer you a motor that will never lose its value, because legally you can't sell it for less than whatever you paid me in the first place. Even if that sale price is grossly over market value and we'll just pretend depreciation doesn't matter, or interest in the actual car, or someone else creates something essentially identical and sells it for 10% of what you paid, or if it's just a pile of shit in the first place, or if the car doesn't exist but I'll deliver it soon I promise, or it's literally a hologram. Hey look, I sold it to you for £30,000, the price is still £30,000. You can't lose. Whether it's sat on your drive for 35 years or not, £30,000. Write it into your will, the grandkids will be laughing.

As I say though it's just a nonsense phenomenon overall. Silly people with too much money enticing people who don't have money to gamble the small amount they have away. It'll be something else in a couple of years.

(Edit: Obviously some people will have made money and others will for as long as this stupidity continues. People make money out of pyramid schemes. Just not most people)

(Edit 2: That's before you consider why anyone would buy anything off Michael Owen, one of the nation's strangest men)

I have an NFT that a mate created and gifted accross to me, I use it for some profile images to try and help him sell a couple. I definitely wouldn't pay for one.

Just read the Wikipedia page on them. Nope still don’t really get what it is.

Didn’t/don’t understand any crypto stuff though.

Glad it's not just me, spent all of this thread trying to decipher what an NFT is. From your post it seems its financial and tech.....fuck that, life's too short.

The only 'problem' can see NFTs solving is around authenticity. If you think of NFTs as an equivalent to fine art, then you never have to worry about whether you're buying the original or not.

It's the equivalent between owning the Mona Lisa in the Louvre and taking a picture of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre / buying a re-print.

Edit. I could see legal contracts etc being stored on the Blockchain but right now, probably wrongly, I think of Blockchain as a database

For those who have taken a passing interest in Charlotte FC, we played in the US Open Cup last night (Round of 32), away to USL1 (tier 3) side Richmond Kickers.

Came to life in the second half, scoring three goals in about 7 minutes; ended up walking away with a 5-1 win and onto the Round of 16.

Will post highlights if any become available.

Do Charlotte really have a player called "Awful"? Can Wolves sign him??

Harrison Afful, yeah! One of the best fullbacks in MLS in his prime, but he's aged significantly over the past two years.

Bad evening for Charlotte who were totally outclassed by CF Montreal, 0-2.

Blackpool’s Jake Daniels comes out as the UK’s first openly gay footballer.

Big moment this. Brave decision, well played sir.

I think the support will far outweigh any negativity. I can't see it being a problem but then as I'm not gay or vilified for being so, I haven't really any experience of what he might be going through.

Good luck to him though.

It's great news to see it happen. I hope he is supported by the vast majority of those aware of the story.
