Without a doubt Wilshere wasted his career, there are a lot of accounts of him not behaving all that responsibly or taking proper care of his body. But in that 2010/11 season he looked class against a Barcelona midfield of Xavi/Iniesa/Busquets, at the time it really seemed like England had someone who was destined to be one of the world's best midfielders. Wenger did burn him out as YW has said.
