The Golf Thread

Hatton's having a mare. Nice to see Bryson stick it in the drink. Prick.

We've just been carrying far too many golfers who are miles away from their best form. Might scrape into double figures, but it's been poor golf that's lost this, rather than exceptional golf to win it.

Hatton fucked this up here. Hopefully Lowry pulls it out the bag

Shane Lowry you big hunk of Irish legend

Can only get another half today although likely to be 11-5 which will be too much to over turn tomorrow but glad to see us fight back today

Well those two are definitely losing. So only one other loss allowed. No chance.

3.5/12 points required for them.

It'll take more than a Miracle to claw that back. 9/12 is a bit too unrealistic for Europe

This hasn't been a meaningful contest since the first ball was struck. USA look relaxed as a team and Rahm apart Europe are way off the pace. Poulter and Mcilroy look like they are just going through the motions. I feel for Harrington.

Can only see Lowry, Rahm and Sergio winning their matches. Maybe Fitzpatrick

I understand the Poulter pick in as much as you carry him picking him until he stops doing it, but in hindsight this was one RC too far. I thought the same with the Garcia pick and that proved to be correct, so I guess you don't really know until afterwards

Agree it’s always easier to assess this with the benefit of hindsight and I understand why he picked Poulter based on his RC pedigree and results but I just felt we were missing something by not taking Rose.

He performed well at the BMW and his game is more suited to Whistling Straits.

Anyway it is what it is and I don’t think it would have made a difference to the result assuming we do lose later as expected.

Will be a transitional European team when we go into 2023 as I’d be surprised to see any of Poulter, Westwood, Casey, McIlroy (form dependent) in that team.

I think Garcia could still be in the frame based on his record and his partnership with Rahm.
