The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

Ronaldo is such a waste of a signing. Goals scored was not their problem.

He's a law unto himself as well these days. Just walks around for 80% of the game. Now don't get me wrong, he's still ridiculously lethal in front of goal. But if you haven't got the ball, he may as well sit down. He doesn't move.

Benching your £500k a week star to try and prove a point is not a great look for Sméagol.

Midfield completely unfit for purpose in terms of tracking back doesn’t exactly scream “sign Ronaldo” does it? Everyone is walking through the centre of them. Christ, we did and we are threadbare in that area ourselves.

Having £500m worth of talent on the bench and playing Fred suggests recruitment could have been better. Not all the little troll’s fault but it is quite amusing to those of us who hate MU.

I think the Glazers will expect a title challenge this season and the moment that becomes a dream rather than reality Ole will be gone. They have given him Ron and if they drop points with him on the bench patience will be in short supply.

If Ronaldo decides he wants to be a manager, then he will become a manager, and he won't start at the bottom and work his way up. It will have to be a big European team and no doubt there will be offers from his former clubs.
MU, Madrid, Juve would all take him if the timing was right.

Fabrizio Romano:
Solskjaer assistant manager Mike Phelan has extended his contract until 2024 with Manchester United. Another message from the club/board: backing the manager and his staff. #MUFC #ManUtd

They signed him cos Rio didn't want to see him sign for City. It's pathetic really and Ronaldo should've realised it wasn't the right fit.

Shock, horror - BRUCE HAS LEFT BY 'MUTUAL CONSENT'

Paulo Fonseca being linked

News that shocked no-one. The only surprise is that it took this long.

Is Fonseca the one that Spurs rejected after fans protested that he was a bit of a cunt? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

Gattuso.

"£8m you say? Oh go on then... If I must"
They let him do his 1000 games. Overall 37% win rate across his career. 28% at the toon. He will turn up again somewhere , no doubt but not at this level unless the owners are stark raving bonkers.

Going full "woe is me", the twat. That's also the most tepid "I think I'll retire now" statement I think I've ever seen.

PS Steve - 1992 (it was actually 1993) is not nearly 40 years ago. I pity whichever club does decide he's the man for them, just awful on so many levels.

Steve Bruce's interview with the Daily Telegraph.

"By the time I got to Newcastle, I thought I could handle everything thrown at me but it has been very, very tough.

"To never really be wanted, to feel that people wanted me to fail, to read people constantly saying I would fail, that I was useless, a fat waste of space, a stupid, tactically inept cabbage-head or whatever. And it was from day one.

“When we were doing ok results wise, it was ‘yeah but the style of football is rubbish’ or I was just ‘lucky.’ It was ridiculous and persistent, even when the results were good.

“The best one was to be told we were a relegation team in all but points. This was all in the first season. We finished 13th. It [the criticism and abuse] got even worse in the second year. We finished 12th, 17 points clear of the bottom three.

“I tried to enjoy it and, you know, I did. I’ve always enjoyed the fight, proving people wrong, but that’s all it ever seemed to be. A fight, a battle. It does take its toll because even when you win a game, you don’t feel like you are winning over the supporters."

EDIT Apologies hadn't seen the link had been posted above by DW

What Bruce fails to mention is he walked out of Palace, Sheff Wed, Blues and Wigan for what he thought were better opportunities, so implying lack of faith and loyalty is just a touch hypercritical
