The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

Personally I don't much care about Newcastle/Bruce but am I the only one that thinks he's done an ok job? I mean he's a poor manager imo but there are worse. Nightmare owners, weak squad, dunno if the spending is down to him or not.

He's spent a fair bit. Joelinton, Saint-Maximin, Krafth, Wilson, Lewis and Willock is around £130m, in that time Perez is pretty much their only sale of note. So around £100m net across five windows.

He's been appalling, so many games where they've been battered, had around 20-25% possession, barely a shot on goal and somehow jammed a point or even all three. Comfortably the worst team in the league to watch while he's been there.

Case in point, before they scored at Molineux (41 minutes or something) they hadn't had a single shot, on or off target, and the goal was entirely of our own making rather than them doing anything. As soon as they equalised, they started timewasting and were clearly happy to play the rest of the game out and leave with a draw. Didn't create a single decent chance after we went back in front. Left Joelinton on for 90 minutes because reasons. Willock didn't even last until half time because Bruce picked him despite being injured in the first place.

Drew here last season after they got the softest free kick in the world in the 93rd minute. That free kick was their only shot on target of the entire second half.

Depends what you class as a good job. If you are an owner whose only remit is for his manager to keep the team up whilst acting as a lightning rod then he did a good job.

It's not great for Wolves if Fonseca goes to Newcastle with Nuno already at Spurs

It's irrelevant if Lage is doing the bizzo for us (the next six are big for him and us, a big haul and he's sitting pretty with a load of free hits vs the big boys, bumping along at around 1PPG from them and he's got a job on).

I meant from a transfer perspective. 2 PL teams above us in the hierarchy for his none elite players next Summer - assuming Nuno is still there

Spurs will always beat us to players irrespective of who's manager, Newcastle can blow anyone bar City out of the water financially if they want to now (but money isn't everything, and if they're 19th in January, no stars are joining).

I'm not concerned about that realistically.

Hull fans are chanting “we want Brucie back”

They're on about Bruce Forsyth because play their cards right, he'll be playing a good game, good game, or even a once in a generation game

Fonseca's Roma were unbelievably open. If he tries to install his system with that group of players they will be relegated with weeks to spare.

Here's hoping...

His inability to grok that it's a bad idea to play a high line when your sweeper is Federico Fazio was pretty unbelievable.

Jim White was told last night that the Saudis are so desperate to retain their Premier League status that they want their new manager to be a temporary one with PL experience who can keep them up

Emotional Return for BFS?!
