The Music Thread Strikes Back

i really hope it isn't o2. their venues tend to be poor experiences. the institute in brum being the exception.
brum academy is the worst. leicester isn't great, and oxford is so-so.

This maybe old news to the Mogwai fanbois on here but their new album is exceptional. Richie Sacramento is one of the best songs I’ve heard in years.

haven't had chance to listen to the album yet. been listening to m83.
all the feedback I've heard has been positive about the album.

The Mogwai album has gone in at number one!
The world has gone fucking mad I tells yer. MOGWAI AT NUMBER ONE!

My Anniversary gift is a vinyl player and a few albums to start me off. Guess it's time to build a collection and say goodbye any money saved during lockdown

Up until now I hadn't bothered with any of the Smashing Pumpkins post-Machina albums but I have been listening to CYR all this week and it is surprisingly good.

In theory, I should probably hate everything about the album. Firstly, I am no great fan of synth-pop and my love of the Pumpkins comes mainly from Gish & Siamese Dream. Secondly, Billy has got James & Jimmy back in the band and then gone on to release an album which sounds like it was made with him, a couple of female backing vocalists, some keyboards and a drum machine. There are virtually no guitars or proper drums on there at all. It should be a disaster but I actually really like it!

As with most Billy Corgan albums, it would have been better off if he had made it shorter. 20 tracks it too long. He could have dropped a quarter of the tracks and made it much better to listen to but Billy is gonna Billy. I'm going to have to go back and listen to some of their other newer albums now.

Apparently, their next album will be a 33 track sequel to Mellon Collie which will be interesting. Say what you like about Billy Corgan but the man is certainly prolific.

The Gallagher brother have set up a film production company together? A reunion with a tour/behind the scenes film/series in the offing?

6 music is having a pop day, which is brilliant. This is on now, tune!

This randomly appeared on a playlist on my smart speaker. I'd never heard them or it but it's a decent tune.

Zeitgeist was their best work post Machina.
I personally cannot stand Cyr. Fair play to Billy for exploring a new direction but it's not a Pumpkins album.
