The NFL Thread

Just finished watching the Bills/Patriots Game in 40. Absolute clinic by the Bills, especially Daboll/Allen.
Someone mentioned that they think Frazier should be nailed on for the Bears HC job. I've a feeling they'll go the Daboll route (not because Frazier is black) because of the need to develop an offence identity.
I said Frasier mainly because he won a Super Bowl playing for the Bears as well as being a minority candidate.

Not at all. The Bills were knocked out by the Chiefs in the play offs last season, they play them again next week. That's his chance to prove he's moved to the next level, claiming that from a regular season game is weak.

When Aldershot beat Wolves in the plays offs the fact we'd done the double over them in the league counted for nothing, it'll be the same if KC win next week. I don't hate Allen, I think he's a Top 10 QB, think I put him 5th in my rankings at the end of last season. It's just that your fandom removes any level of rationality

Do you hold every other QB to those same exacting standards or do you reserve this for Allen because he has proven everyone wrong throughout his career and continues to prove doubters wrong? You and Alan are probably still clinging on to the words of the so called experts who claimed he would never make it, he was inaccurate, should never have been drafted in the 1st round, was a guaranteed bust. Yet here he is improving year after year and shoving peoples words down their throat. Yours too, you just haven't realised it yet.

I've not actually criticised him, that's in your head. What I said was your hyperbolic MVP season bollocks was exactly that

I definitely didn't think he was capable of turning in that kind of performance. But you don't get remembered for winning wild card games.

It's a great showing from him, no doubt. Still plenty of work to do, though.

Dan Marino

Dan Marino is remembered and what exactly did he win?

Allen has got about a decade of consistent top 5 QB play to do before we can even think about mentioning him in the same breath as Marino.

Marino's career was a fucking unicorn.

Listen, I'm NOT comparing Allen to Marino, I'm simply responding to the bullshit you're spouting and pointing out your inconsistency. You clearly have zero knowledge or understanding about Josh Allen, you're just repeating the crap that has been said over and over again by the so called experts who have never given Allen any credit. I'm done responding to you because you just simply haven't got a fucking clue.

You’re not comparing Allen to Marino, then why have you brought Marino into it in the first place?

You’re taking this way too seriously regardless. I told you weeks ago that I’ll be eating major crow if Allen keeps turning up as he did last night.

Of this seasons draft, 8 of the Top 15 have been undoubted hits:
Sewell, Waddle, Smith, Surtain, Slater, Parsons, Pitts and Chase
One in Vera Tucker has been decent in his first year, although the Jets Oline isn't something I pay much attention to.
One was injured early on in Horne
That leaves the 5 QB's who I think it's too new to rate because they often go into bad situations or spend the first year not being first choices.

Of course there's no guarantee of success, but you have got a lot better chance of hitting higher up

This year seems decent. QB seems to be it's own thing but recently we have had Darnold and Baker, plus Winston and Mariota as 1 and 2 (I get the latter must be maybe 8 years now?)

The first round of the draft is a good one if roughly half the players see a 2nd contract with that initial team. Think we easily get that this from this year's class.

I would still posit that ~70% of a draft pick's success is based on the situation they land in.

Tom fucking Brady wouldn't have made the Jets good this season, as an example.

What's weird was the absolute lack of ferociousness from the Pats D, IMO. Dominated completely, really from the word go.

Eagles without both their only competent ends and down to 4th choice RG. Unless the DT's can get to him down the middle I think Brady is going to be able to do whatever he wants. Wet and windy, it feels like a Gronk game

Conditions could favor the Eagles running game.

But only a fool would bet against TB at this point.
