The NFL Thread

McCarthy hasn't been sacked yet AFAIK.

The call was brilliant in hindsight, caught the 49ers completely out, Dak just fucked it up by waiting too long to slide and then by handing the ball to a teammate rather than the ref. He goes down one second earlier or actually finds a ref to give the ball to and they have time for another play.

McCarthy is no great shakes but as risky calls go I think that was a good one. Just the execution was wrong.

You can't make that call and not have your $40m franchise QB not understand the rules. You just can't. I thought I'd read that Mccarthy had been fired? And if he hasn't, he should be.

Tbh if Dak isn't aware of the situation in that moment then that's on him. QBs have always been mini-coaches on the field, to an extent. Dak has to be the one in control there, the coaches can't run on the field and drag him down.

Just my opinion, though. As I say, McCarthy is a decent coach, IMO, not really a good one.

I can't remember when but Larry Fitzgerald was widely praised for saving a game for them in the dying seconds by getting the ball off a team mate and rushing it to the refs. It may even have been last season.

I remember at the time an ex player saying usually teams have a player who is the "spot man" or something like that, whose job it is to do that, communicate that to make sure it happens.

Not really sure about next week, think I'll just watch them and enjoy rather than bet. In terms of confidence I think I'd go Packers, Chiefs, Bengals, Rams, but wouldn't be particularly surprised if any of the games went the other way

This aged well.

Sorry I meant NEXT week...

Just watched the game and the Cardinals made to look very ordinary. Backs up what you were saying about situation as Stafford and his playoff loses at the Lions had become a bit of a meme. I won a bet with a mate last night as he'd previously said Stafford just wasn't good enough to win a playoff game period, I took that with him prior to the season.

Think that Rams v Bucs game will be interesting, you feel the Rams have the tools to disrupt the Bucs.

Needs to prove himself like. Never really done much in a big game, for sure.

You realize that the game that really matters isn't for another few weeks, right?

Of those 5 games he lost 2. If he beats Mahomes in what is likely to be a shootout at the weekend then he can start being talked about in the same terms.

Can't you wait to do this until Allen actually wins something?

Tom Brady doesn't have those numbers yet he's the GOAT.

Nor Manning, Brees, Montana, Young and they're all better than Allen who's won......?

He can run the ball really well and is now decent throwing.

Let’s see how gets on in the next few weeks where he might have to rely a little more on the throwing.

The stats don’t really mean anything either. Not many QBs rush for 50 yards consistently so it wipes out about 95% of the competition. Plus there are garbage yards a plenty which pad out stats.

The only thing that matters is W:L

In the end just put a fiver on Packers, Chiefs, Titans and Rams for a bit of interest. Wouldn't surprise me at all if I go 0/4

Titans D just squashing Burrows at will
