The NFL Thread

As long as Hurts is competent I'll take the over on the Eagles. Have a very favourable schedule that starts
@Lions
Vikings
@Washington
Jaguars
Hurts should be at least competent, I thought he showed flashes last year. Eagles will still be a run 1st team but AJ Brown gives them something and he's a beast when it comes to RAC.

Bills have a tough start but could quite possibly win 10 straight after their bye week. They have Rams, Titans, Packers, Steelers and Chiefs in the first 7 games.

They won't want to be, they'll start the year as they did last year throwing the ball. Brown will take pressure off Hurts on 1st and 2nd downs taking the ball for 7 yds on jet sweeps and the like. Didn't have anyone capable of that last year

I think it was Gregg Rosenthal (as I don't really listen to any other shows now) that pointed out Hurts made better deep passes near the end of last year than was given credit for.

I really do like the Eagles plan as got a decent looking team now, if Hurts doesn't work out than it makes sense to give up multiple picks to finish a team, than it does to try and use multiple high picks to start building ones (like the Jags, Browns, Raiders etc seemed to struggle to do for years)

Not just a job, a big fuck off pay rise to go with it. It's not just the Browns unfortunately, about 8 teams were interested.

James Bradberry to the Eagles. It's been a great off season on paper. If Hurts can go to the next level then they can be a genuine contender in the NFC

Every single Bills player arrived together to the scene of the Buffalo mass shooting today. They layed flowers at the memorial and then served lunch to the local community. All of them. Diggs wasn't in town for the off-season workouts, but flew in especially to be there. They all wore t-shirts that said 'Choose Love'. There is a lot to like about that team.

If those two faced fuckers at NFL can hand out 4 and 6 week bans for Roethlesberger and others convicted of sexual offenses, 'because it's 'Bringing the Shield into disrepute' (Slight use of UK version) then Watson, should be taken out for the year. Absolute minimum.
Can't believe that Goodell has only this week started 'to have a conversation with Watson'.
And talking about bringing the game (Shield) into disrepute, That deviant Snyder seems to have dropped off the radar with his carry on.
I heard then saw a female witness swear under oath that he used to walk into the general office and open his trousers and stand next to various female workers making jokes and laughing with his fucking cock out. He should be removed and his team demoted to the college circuit.

We'll see if he'll be prepared to take back up QB money, he hasn't before

I mean that was a long time ago though. I wonder who at the Raiders wanted to look at him as they did trade for Stidham recently.

With Kaep I wonder what the thinking could be.

Their new OC has previously worked with Kaepernick at the 49ers. Raiders owner has always said he would hire Kaepernick if the coaches want him, so looks like a genuine move. And good for him if he can beat out the other back-ups.

I hadn't realised that about the OC. The new coaching staff probably reviewed last year's footage prior to starting and saw that despite it being obvious the Mariota designed runs were extremely effective, and also worked with Newton, both very different runners to Kaep and who knows if he has that level of athleticism left after such a lay off, but it's a good opportunity for him as he only has Stidham and Mullens for comp for those spots.

Everyone's favourite underdog QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick - retiring after 17 seasons.
Fitzmagic: great guy, slightly above average QB. One of the best personalities of the last 15 years though. YouTube his roast of Fred Jackson. Genuinely hilarious.

The Deshaun Watson story gets more grotesque by the day. There surely can be no way he plays this year? Maybe even ever? And what the bejesus were the Browns thinking giving him $230m guaranteed? It seems pretty clear that he is guilty of a series of sexual assaults on at least 24 women. Rumours of it being 60+ and the Texans knew about it and were enabling it are even more disturbing.

I'm trying to forget the whole situation, but that story is not going away and will probably get much bigger since the Texans are also being sued now.

FWIW there is a massage parlour 2 doors away from my store and rumours have existed for a while about what goes on there. One of my customers has always insisted everything is legit, but told me yesterday that a new masseuse just gave him an unsolicited 'happy ending'.

there is a clear difference between the places that offer that or are likely to offer that, and the sort of person Watson seems to have targetted though, they are not only all women, but attractive younger women when you see any photos of them, not even all work in the field of physio neither.

The Texans had mostly been clear in this but are now being dragged in as being complicit by at least ignoring it or having suspicious (at best) or being involved in paying for and arranging a private settlement at worst.

The recent NYT article by the reporter who was previously at SI is grim reading.
