The Oscillating Wildly Thread

Agree with many others that you writing again is a huge positive - for everyone concerned.

By the way, can't believe you didn't find space to talk about the masterstroke of a tactical sub - Naylor (Olofinjana 48)

Depending how long we're out of action for, there'll be plenty of time to discuss Mr "his passes are too intelligent for our other players"...

I think we did actually bring him on to play on the left. Stuart Gray put him there once as well. The mind boggles.

Will take requests on this (not saying I'll act on them necessarily, but I'll take them)

The Birmingham home game in the Premier league where we lost 1-0 and Bowyer scored was horrific.

Just going to come on and comment on that - Deutsch's favourite player as well :)

Every single player without fail on The Old Gold Club says what a great manager Hoddle was. Lescott on last weeks said he was the best manager he worked under, not just at Wolves but anywhere. I can only assume he brought Eileen in to hypnotise them.

Please get Vio Ganea on there, immediately.

Something like that - it was not as much fun for the rest of us.

They probably liked the tactical work that was done with them on the training ground following a regime that did none (Jones) - Doesn't do much for the fans when you're constantly drawing games with no entertainment value though.

The ridiculous thing with him was that he did actually come up with a system that worked at the end of 04/05. Won four of our last five games, should have been all five but we conceded right at the end at Coventry. 4-4-2 diamond, Seol behind a front two (Miller plus either Cort or Leon, this being when Leon gave a shit), Seyi in front of the back four (not ideal but we could have just gone and bought a proper player for that role). We looked good.

Then rips it all up over the summer and plays 4-3-3 (with the wide forwards being ultra-wide) when we clearly didn't have the players for that system.

I've always said with him, superficially he sounds like he knows what he's on about when he's on TV. Dig deeper and it's all drivel.

Probably had more touches than any time in their careers if that's what excites you. Don't think we had possession stats then, but we would have had nearly 70% for most games with the vast majority being in our own half or the centre circle. Hate Hoddle more than Saunders, only second to Docherty. Only time I've binned my season ticket for none economic reasons

I might be getting some of these mixed in with the end of Jones' time but I know we had some younger players on loan such as Huddlestone, Bischoff and Aliadiere but at the time I remember a lot of older players coming in and just not working out such as Bjorklund and Anderton - Was it under Hoddle where we pretty much wasted a whole summer chasing Rasiak and Idiakez? Those few years end of Jones and Hoddle blend together for me.

Yep that was summer 2005 under Hoddle and we settled for Anderton instead of Idiakez, no-one instead of Rasiak.

Björklund was DJ after he knew Butler and Okoronkwo were being released, had three months to sign a centre half, didn't bother sorting it out and ended up drafting in a semi-retired relic which went about as well as you would expect.

He did sign Rob Edwards but he always intended him to play at RB to replace Irwin.

I knew remembering all this crap would come in handy one day. I just needed for there to be a global pandemic.

Good read as always, hope to see more.

I guess it's the perfect time to release stuff, too, with everyone a) bored and b) panicked and need something to take their mind off it.

It's more towards the altruistic end of the scale :icon_lol:

I don't earn anything from this. But there are no current matches to talk about, transfers etc are a million miles away from anyone's thoughts, the season has been frozen and it's good for the fanbase to have something to read.

The E&S won't bother (they don't have the people to do it properly) so I'll have a go providing I'm well enough.

Trying to think of a suitable game that I know you went to. Leicester away where we scored 4 and Seyi turned into Gerd Muller could be fun.

Oh, they don't all have to be good. I have no problem with reminiscing about some terrible rubbish and I've got plenty to pick from there!

Clearly no point in rattling on about any Nuno stuff, everyone already remembers that.
