18 months ago Jota was almost the 1st name on the team sheet, but this season has been a huge disappointment. His good moments have been greatly outweighed by the poor games. Perhaps he just needs a break, but he has never been good for a whole season for us.
Is there an essential role he fills for us that nobody else (current player or realistic target) could do better, or more consistently? He has developed his defensive duties better than Neto, Podence, Adama and he is a more natural finisher than any of those. But all 3 are much better wide players, creators, and are more consistent.
None of the big 6 would consider him anything more than a squad player. We need a goalscorer. Someone who can play either alongside Raul or instead of him. Unless Nuno believes that Jota is going to be much more consistent next season I would sell him now. I think we could sell him to an Iberian team, find a replacement, and make a profit.

Absolutely this, all of our first team squad are worth hanging onto and hopefully some of the younger members will get get more gametime and step up. Think we will sign only 2 or 3 new players at the most so we will need all of em

It isn’t really. Nobody comes near our Raul valuation at 29. He is guaranteed his starting position here. And our valuation on Traore is outlandish too. My only concern is really Neves and he seems incredibly settled.
