The R.I.P. Thread

I'm yet to speak to anyone who will be watching, i guess my grandparents would have, but they would be about 110 now!

I thought it was interesting that Gogglebox got it's largest ever viewing figures last Friday, i don't think that's a coincidence.

It's on a Saturday so that the mass population can watch. Whether that's deluded or not who knows. I won't be watching, but I've not watched any royal event so aren't really a good benchmark

I could have watched Charles and Diana's wedding I suppose, but I was three months old so didn't have a lot of say in the matter.

Didn't watch Diana's funeral which was pretty much the next major royal ceremony (and whatever you think, it was an event that resonated through the vast majority of the country) and certainly none since.

In fact I believe on the afternoon of the Diana funeral I won the Champions League on Championship Manager 96/97 thanks to a Kennet Andersson brace for Arsenal vs Dynamo Kyiv. One of the greatest Bosman signings I ever made, a machine in front of goal for years.

Yep no interest here. He seemed like an amiable enough chap, but why anyone would want to watch a funeral of anyone they don't know/never met is beyond me.

The day Diana died, my mother spilt tea over my championship manager data disk. Ruining my chances of emulating my success with Torquay and winning the European Cup with Man City.

Can guarantee my MiL will watch it

I do remember watching some of Grace Kelly's, it was televised live before Grandstand. The bastards took the kids tv programmes off

I do love a Royal wedding, but I even took on overtime rather than watch Diana's funeral, so DoE's gig has no chance with me.

The others in Casa Del Pablo will be watching it, apparently.

RIP to my Aunt who went at 12.30 am this morning - last link in my family to that generation (& closer than many relatives as her husband died years ago & she had no children so the nieces & nephews were her family).

Sad, but good that she didn't linger as what they found in hospital last week wasn't treatable (particularly at her age - 94) - she would have hated to come out & have to be looked after & no quality of life.

Makes one of my sisters (who is only 2 yrs older than me) the oldest family member for us now.

No interest in any royal or celebrity so definitely not watching a funeral, I hate funerals anyway even of people I know and like...been to too many already. If its nice weather, I'll be out for a ride on hopefully very quiet roads

Shirley Williams aged 90. Only remember her from the Gang of 4 onwards, but she always seemed to talk sense.

Yeah my memory of her was a decent politician.......remember them?
The SDP should have been the centrist party of the nineties, but Blair came along with nee zlabour and they went with the liberals. A retrograde step.

Helen mcrory wife of Damian Lewis the actor, actress from peaky blinders, Harry Potter, played Cherie Blair in the queen, aged 52 of cancer
