The Race For The Top Four

We have no right to be challenging for Europe. Our stats this season are freakish. Yet we are in a position that gives us a real chance. I don’t quite know how it has happened but I will take it. 3 wins and don’t be surprised if we get points from chelsea Liverpool or city

The presumption is that the top 2 will just keep winning, but there is a slight hope City or LFC might slip up and then the final game of the season will either be they are champions and might rest some players ahead of the champions league final the next weekend presuming they get there, or City have won it and again it still makes sense to rest some players as they are locked into 2nd and still have a final the next weekend.

Yes I know a weakened LFC or City is mostly going to beat us.

I'd be stunned if we got anything from Liverpool or City, mainly because they're just so fucking good. Genuinely 2 of the best club teams ever.

That is true but it took a very dubious penalty and an injury time lapse for them to beat us first time this season. If the last game is a dead rubber for Liverpool then we can hope . Surely you can’t just write games off at this stage of the season?

I'd never write any game off but you said don't be surprised if we get points from those games. I haven't seen anything from us recently to give me that kind of optimism, it'd be a massive upset if we nicked a point against City or Liverpool.

Chelsea are a bit more inconsistent so we've got a bit more of a chance there but even still a draw would be a shock result IMO.

As i said previously it it will go to the last game, and with plenty of twists and turns. 7th will be a tremendous return considering. I'm expecting 8th just shy of getting into Europe. Hoping for a big summer but it's usually the hope that kills you!

The best chance of points will be if the league is done and dusted, the scary scenario is if it’s looking like the title could be decided on goal difference.

I was looking at our calendar today and figured it's not such a bad run. We have games that we can (should?) easily add some points to our table. And some of our direct competitors have a worse gauntlet to run through. The Liverpool game might be a surprise if the league has been decided by then too.

We're also getting an inconsistent Chelsea, from their stats, so we could surprise there too.

However, we do need to sort out some inconsistencies.

Edit: Always the optimist.

Bruno plays attacking football, we’ll have half a chance.

Bruno sets us up to not lose, we don’t improve our recent record and finish 8th.

Leicester were a long way back anyway.
If they had won, they would be 6 points behind us with a game in hand but worse goal difference.

However, whilst we have to play Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, their only potentially tough games would be Chelsea and Spurs. So... it had the potential to be pretty close if we didn't turn up against the 'lesser' teams and they won last night.

As it is, I think that result cemented a minimum of 8th for us, but we have a fantastic opportunity for Bruno to equal Nuno's high score in his first season - something which to most was unthinkable last August.

Leicester are playing their reserves every other game. They did on Sunday and will this weekend and probably next.

The United defence are doing the favour, and so is Bruno Penandes, which is amusing.

Utd have Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton, Palace remaining

Their form is...not great

As ever though its all meaningless if we don't show up

I think the best outcome is Spurs get 4th, Conte then leaves for PSG and takes Kane with him.

Straight shoot out between the North London duo now. Us and West Ham scrapping with United. 3 teams, two European spots up for grabs. We absolutely have to win the three "easier" fixtures, and pray for miracles in the others.
