The Rugby Thread

He thumped him, then hit him again as the player lay on the ground. That would be wrong even in Aussie Rules.

If you are going to get a Red, might as well do it in style I guess

Well Josie Barton has spoke on the subject

Actually feel a bit sorry for Ben Flower. Lance started it with his elbow. Superb 1st dig from Flower. 2nd when he's KO'd is out of order.

Clearly, instead of punching him the 2nd time he maybe should have put a cigar out in his eye or waited until his back was turned before going back in...

Out of interest it is impossible to get sent off in Aussie Rules. You can be put on report if you call in an air strike on the opposition, but that seems to be about it.

You may well be right. Don't they review every game in Aussie Rules and then charge players.

Carlton v Collingwood is not for the faint hearted.

Watch a Hawthorn v Essendon match. They might as well go out there with AK47s.

10 games is about right.

He's apologised, it was a mistake, we move on.

Eh? The first punch maybe but the 2nd was out of order. He should be standing in front of a judge

The first punch wasn't even worthy of a red, he's just retaliated to a forearm/elbow to the face. If it wasn't for the second punch they would both have been in the bin for 10.

Agree the second punch is bad but he's received the longest ever ban SL has ever given. It's the right call IMO.

You can tell I don't really watch Rugby. To me that was GBH but to Rugby fans its "he slightly over stepped t'mark there"

About to leave for Twickenham for the England-NZ game

More excited than a little kid at Christmas.
