Last nine games after the international break, so into the final stretch of games a bit like after the first lockdown last year....

West Ham (H) -
Fulham (A) -
Sheffield United (H) -
Burnley (H) -
West Brom (A) -
Brighton (H) -
Tottenham (A) -
Everton (A) -
Man Utd (H) -

it's a decent set of fixtures tbh, even those last three games I can see us picking up points unless we are on full holiday mode at that point.

For me:
West Ham (H) - W
Fulham (A) - L
Sheffield United (H) - W
Burnley (H) - D
West Brom (A) - W
Brighton (H) - D
Tottenham (A) - L
Everton (A) - D
Man Utd (H) - D

13 points, 48 for the season.

I think I'll be fairly content if we can get around 12-14 points. The next six games are a good opportunity, but you'd expect a defeat in there somewhere with how we have been this season.

Our form has improved in the last 6 games even if we haven't quite created enough/taken key chances. Hopefully with three weeks til the next game, Podence and then Jimenez to return, we can target a strong finish.

Without Raul I think around 4 to 8 points. With I think 13 is easily acheivable.

West Ham (H) - W
Fulham (A) - D
Sheffield United (H) - W
Burnley (H) - W
West Brom (A) - W
Brighton (H) - W
Tottenham (A) - L
Everton (A) - W
Man Utd (H) - D

With Raul back for a cameo and our more proactive style in a month we go on a searing run and end the season in a more than respectable 8th spot

IF we can maintain something like the form we showed last night and on top of that score an actual goal or 3, then I go along with YW's predictions...although probably the West Ham and Fulham results the other way round

I'd be content with 9-10 points from that lot and putting this nightmare of a season to bed. As others have said, wouldn't be at all surprised to see Raul back on the bench.

One more win and i will sleep a lot easier, this is an opportunity to get some points on the board. Hopefully Podence will be back. If we lose the next two games though, panic may set in.

I'm not sure what you'd be panicking about but each to their own.

If we lost literally every game for the rest of the season then there's a small chance we'd be in danger but that isn't going to happen, I mean we aren't even remotely in that kind of form for a start nor are we playing particularly badly.

When was that?

Because it wasn't in 2004 and it wasn't in 2012. 2013 we were in terms of ability, but we had the worst manager in British football and plenty of us said we were done long before the deed happened.

75/76 season, we had some good results and some shit ones,we were relegated on the last game of the season. I was gutted. Incidentally Sheff Utd finished bottom that season. I know its going back a long way but it has always stuck with me,

It's 45 years ago man! Let it go.

I say this as a man still fuming about Mark Rankine winning Player of the Year in 1995 against all logic and reason, but still.

OK, but it was Birmingham who stayed up instead of us, and that really hurt, being a brummie, i went through hell.

Well we returned that favour under Mick and Blues have failed to pollute the top flight since so that should be one 45 year old boil lanced.

Anyway, making the absolutely wild and unlikely assumption that we don’t get another point all season, which looking at the fixtures is rightfully a long shot, then let’s look at what Newcastle have left.

Brighton A
Spurs H
Burnley A
West Ham H
Liverpool A
Arsenal H
Leicester A
Man City H
Sheff United A
Fulham H

They would need 8 points from that lot to guarantee finishing above us. As far as I can see the four fixtures where they have most hope would mean their achievement taking points from teams that would also still be striving to get to our current total.

Seeing Newcastle’s fixtures has brightened my day, not because m concerned about Wolves going down but I see the trapdoor opening wide enough for a Bruce to slip through.

Spiers was making some God awful point on his podcast this week that Fulham will have played twice (against Leeds & Villa) by the time we play again - meaning the gap could be down to 3 points if they manage to grab a couple of results - then their following game is against us (which if they win, would put them level on points with us).

I suppose he was ignoring the fact that Fulham haven't won three games in a row all season (yet) and that they'd have played a game more than us. And that we'd also have to lose our next couple of games for that to happen.

The crucial games for me are Sheff Utd, Fulham, WBA, Brighton and Burnley. Those are five games we would expect to win, and 10 points from those games is really the very least we should expect. Anything less - even without Raul - and there are some serious questions to answer.

If we play the same as we did against Liverpool I don't see us having too many problems with that points total.
