The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

I got to represent my Squadron this morning for Remembrance Day but won't be there on Sunday for the main parade as I'm away on a Cadet course. (Who at Region thought that organising a course on Remembrance Weekend was a good idea?)
I would have been leading the Squadron on Sunday too...

had a tel call this morning. apparently they have recruited too many people for jury service. luckily they asked me if I wanted to be excused!

Fts. Yes, civic duty and all that, but from what I've heard, takes ages to get to get your compensation through.

Mine was two weeks sat in a room in Stafford, just waiting, quite lucky really as the case we were waiting was a Romanian gang charged with people trafficking , they pled guilty so we weren't needed. Wasn't overly keen on the fact you had to walk out the same doors as everyone in court, quite intimidating

When I did it I remember someone else on the jury saying they left the court went to get the bus to go home and the guy in the dock and most of the public gallery were already on it!

it was at the crown court, so would have probably been a significant case. happy to fulfil the civic duty, but equally glad to be excused.
Plus, dad due to have an operation at the moment (moved from yesterday to next week) and wouldn't have been able to see him after if travelling with the great unwashed on buses etc.

That's one sharp looking vet, Darlo!

Didn't realized you'd served, fair play. I may be a pacifist (or wimp) by nature but I still recognize the sacrifices made by those who join armed forces. Respect.

This makes me happy, sad and proud all at the same time. What this man is doing for his mucka and all those who have been struck down with this horrendous disease is immense.

I knew he was good as an opposition player but my god he must have been some captain to play with.

Ps I would have linked the BBC but there article was just awful.

So... Over the last two weekends I have been training to become a Skill at Arms Instructor for all the weapons systems used by the Cadet Forces. Very early starts and even later finishes. I have had to learn all 12 of the lessons, then plan and present 3 of them to other students and staff. (They decided which lessons you taught and 2 of my 3 are considered the more difficult to teach)
The fact that this is being written in this thread will make it obvious that yes, I passed, but it was bloody hard work.
My first lesson was a bit ropey, my second lesson was pretty good and my 3rd lesson, I smashed out of the park!

Beautiful out this morning.

Had a Zappi EV charger installed on Wednesday, diverts the unused solar energy from my panels to the car when the house isn’t using it - basically free driving :)

[geek]I will never get tired of looking at this[/geek]

That's seriously cool.

Do your panels provide you with enough to power your house without relying on the grid?

Depends on the weather, but we have 18 and can generate 3.5Kw, so yeah on a nice day easily.

As I’m an energy usage geek I log our use, base line is only 0.3Kw, even with washer or something on we are usually below 2kw. Ideally could do with a battery to prevent the excess going back to the grid, but the payback period is stupidly long.

That I am finally going to become a grandfather (as long as all goes well from here on) in June next year.

A bit behind age wise on some on here, but with both families having suffered miscarriages & the elder one 2 failed IVF procedures wasn't sure it would happen.

Son & DiL have driven down from Surrey to Dorset to tell me in person.

That's fantastic news pal. I hope everything goes well and you can share with your grandchild the wonders of Wolves and the world in general.
