180k a week is pretty crazy though! I wouldn’t want us to pay that for many players let alone Lingard (who I think is a decent player). Wonder how long the contract will be

Just read that Forest have agreed to pay him that! How's that even possible?!
Hypothetically let's say MGW cost them £25m and £75k per week for 4 seasons that's £10.15m per season
Lingard is £9.36m a season in wages.
It's easily viable albeit questionable use of resources

DC are stupid, I bet they scrounge up the money and put him on a DP contract.

In fact, I bet Rooney is ecstatic that Lingard is basically pricing himself out of the Prem.

I know others are dismissive, but Forest have now made 8 signings and look like they are getting Lingard. Bringing that many new players in is always a danger, but unlike Fulham a couple of years ago it looks calculated rather than haphazard. The amount Lingard would get in wages would presumably put them out of the MGW race should it exist, if they get the version who was at West Ham for 6 months it'll be a great signing for them, not so much the Utd one of the rest of the last 3 years
The Lingard one is the one that I think comes with the huge gamble. Breaking your wage structure for Jesse Lingard is odd. We did it on promotion but got Rui and Mout. Players with genuine class and pedigree
If Lingard is poor (good chance) you really risk the squad getting royally fucked that a dude is earning £180k a week for doing TikToks and learning new dances should he score. Don't think they should take that gamble really, better spending those wages elsewhere for me.

Agreed, I didn't know the wages when I posted that this morning. I think he's worth the gamble as a player as he's the x factor that could elevate them, but not on those wages - I assumed he'd get about half of that even as a freebie

Lingard is shit. Had about 7-8 good games for West Ham, big wow. Done absolutely bugger all else and he's 30 in December.

A mighty 20 Premier League goals for Man Utd having played at least semi-regularly for them since 2015.

Lingard's not shit, he's a decent Premier League footballer. He's had good spells for United, West Ham and was alright for England for a period. Had a tough spell for 2/3 years up until the West Ham loan due to family health issues that not many seem to take into account either and whatever you think of his off the pitch social media posts he takes a fair bit of shit for them too. I think the West Ham spell although short proved he's more than good enough to play for a top 10 team in this league still.

He's an attacking midfielder who rarely scores or creates, offers nothing defensively and has no improvement or development left in him. I fail to see how that's decent.

If we signed him on a quarter of what Forest are purportedly offering I'd be mortified.

I bet he scores more than Pod, MGW and Adama this season and comparable with Neto.

I don't think so and he definitely wouldn't for us.

I don't even particularly like two of those players and I'm on the fence with another!

The last time he got a run of games together which was West Ham he got 9 goals 5 assists in 16 games. No admittedly that was the best spell of his career but at United he was never first choice for the whole season, look at his minutes played. His record when you look at goals/assists and minutes played is more than decent enough.

I believe it's happened in rugby (that is I seem to recall a younger colleague telling me this for some reason).
More money to be made as an influencer I guess..?

The lad from Cas gave it a go, he's going back to league apparently, turned down a few quid too.

Obviously the bright lights weren't for him

Went in late, wasn't popular kicked out after about 10 days my daughter told me

Lingard has apparently told Rooney to do one. :ROFLMAO:

Get this man a new pair of pants, he's clearly too big for his current britches.
