The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Replaying Fallout New Vegas again until Starfield is patched.

I had forgotten what a superb, engrossing game this is. It may look over 10 years old but the gameplay is brilliant. A real treat.

Disagree with that - it's surprisingly tactical! One of the few games I've had to dial down the difficulty mind you, it's solid in places.

Definitely better than the first game IMO - worth playing both.
I'd agree to playing both (and I'd play a 3rd if there's one coming out).

The second just didn't resonate as much for me but plenty of people loved Doom Eternal.

i think I just preferred the extra layer to it - the platforming and puzzles seem a bit more challenging than the first game. No idea how the console manages to keep up with the carnage.

idTech is an extraordinarily refined engine, and they haven't asked it to do anything it wasn't designed to do.

Not always the case; see: EA and Frostbite.

Palworld - tremendous

Only problem is dragging myself off it. Sign of a good game!

It's on Steam and also Xbox Gamepass

Ark meets pokemon, but you'd have to have played/seen Ark. Best way of describing it though

One more game. Diablo 4 is an amazing game! I love exploring the world. I love fighting demons and getting new gear. The story is captivating and the graphics are stunning. I am eagerly anticipating what comes next!

I really think Assassins Creed Odyssey is my favorite game of all time. It does everything right.

Kassandra is certainly the best protagonist since Ezio, the male character was particularly wooden so definitely better off playing as her.

Wanna say the male PC got added at the last second (relatively speaking) because Ubisoft were worried Kass wouldn't market well to gamers (who I think Ubisoft believe are entirely male).

Shows clear as day in the finished product, IMO.

Yeah I preferred Odyssey to Valhalla. I still really enjoyed the latter (The Last Kingdom - The Game basically! What's not to love?) but Odyssey is the pinnacle of the series IMO.

Still hoping they return to the huge open world and set one in Ancient Rome.

It's way better than Valhalla which bored me pretty quickly.
I couldn't get behind either protagonist unfortunately, plus the fact I'm technically playing a nice viking which I'm sure there were but those still went around murdering everyone not just soldiers.

Plus way too many stone churches, practically everything was wood/mud at the time the game is set.

The Bioshock Collection, all 3 games, is available for £7.99 on Xbox store. Worth it even if Infinite isn't brilliant.
