The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Skyrim is half price on the switch store (£25) - is it worth it? Never played it but seen quite a bit wanging on about it on here.
It’s a simply fantastic game. You will however lose everything else of worth in your life as it is like crack.

Yeah, Skyrim is excellent, huge game but also massive replayability...

I forgot Skyrim was on the Switch! I've just installed it on my Xbox One as it's now on Game Pass but playing it handheld is very tempting.

I started Breath of the Wild at Christmas on my kids' Switch (best present I've ever bought them....). Even on the 2nd playthrough, it's an astounding achievement. Best game ever made. I adored Skyrim but not even that can hold a candle to BotW.

That’s good to know - I love BotW, so should like Skyrim then?

BotW and Skyrim are broadly very similar, yes. There is a lot more depth in Skyrim in terms of character progression and NPC interaction, and less platformy. Just get used to not being able to climb over everything...

It's a good game, some think the greatest ever or in their top 3.
For me, it had my attention for a while but I got bored of it.

I bought it over seven years ago at the behest of this thread (and it was like a fiver or something, so whatever). Six hours of total playtime. Not turned it on at all in almost three years.

I can appreciate that it's impressive on a number of levels but it never particularly grabbed me.

Does anyone play Harry Potter Puzzles & Spells? :)

Looks a lot like Puzzle Quest which I really like.

There's a free game on the Microsoft store called Gems Of War which is by the same people as PQ too.

Microsoft doubling the price for Xbox Live Gold according to IGN

They've done a u-turn after vociferous complaints.

No doubt they were trying to steer people towards Game Pass Ultimate but it was a ridiculous own goal to raise the price of XBL by so much. No wonder it went down so badly.

Great work, MS!

They always have bad press at the start of a new console cycle. Xbox 360 with 3 red rings. Xbox one with the always online and now this.

Not really - this isn't anything to do with their new console and they have at least seen sense.

In the grand scheme of things, Game Pass Ultimate is one of the best value products you can buy at the moment.

Finally finished Astro’s Playroom on the Ps5 as tech demo for the controller it actually is a fun game

Completed Zelda BOTW earlier.

Greatest game ever made.

I’ve suddenly become a massive AC fan.
Really enjoying Origins, still halfway through Odessey.
Because both games are so large and I have to do anything, I’m looking forward to having Valhalla GOTY edition for Christmas!

Valhalla is immense. And it has some very funny touches. The mystery quest called The Prodigy is especially good IMO...
