Things that make you SAD thread.

Had a text yesterday stating my niece passed away in wolverhampton.
She was only 42
Seems I don't get to holiday back home anymore. Just travel for funerals :(
I know the season is over but would love to hook up for a pint and chat perhaps a curry somewhere. Just to hear a friendly voice would be nice
When you over mate? We could catch up on school days!

Not sure yet, not sure if I can actually make it over. Looking at flights in excess of $2000, not including a car rental or hotel for a week, but if I do come over I'd love to hook up buy you a pint and a curry...
After talking to my other niece, when the police turned up at her house, they found a note and an empty bottle of pills.
She stated it appears she took her own life at 42. We are waiting for the toxicology report, I guess sometime this week for the results. The whole situation is just terribly sad as she leaves behind 3 kids...

At least 42 dead immigrants found in the back of a truck in San Antonio.
Not the first time, and it won't be the last. They give all the money they have to someone who promises to get them into the US, who packs them like sardines into a truck - in 35+ degree heat with no ventilation, no air-conditioning, no water, and leaves them there for hours.
All they wanted was a better life.

Up to I think it was the 8th of June, there had been 199 mass shootings in the US.
A bit like a car crash, they're all immune to it, happens too often. In January and April there was 1 day in each month when there were 7 mass shootings.
And just to make the Americans feel better about this, they've just passed a law amending the 2nd constitution making it ok to carry a concealed weapon.
Are they fucking stupid?
And any day now Trump is gonna rock up and start his shit again.
And on the same day, they passed a law making sure that if a girl gets raped, and it turns out she's pregnant, and she travels to the west coast to get an abortion, her fine will now be larger than the fucker who raped her!! (If of course they catch him).
Welcome to the land of the free....

That's not exactly what repealing Roe v Wade does. It removes the constitutional right to abortion in all states. It doesn't say anything as far as I can see about inter-state travel to get the abortion if the state in which you are unlucky enough to reside goes full gilead.

The fines bit is complete nonsense dredged up from I know not where. Rape is still a serious felony offence in all states and fines aren't going to cut it.

Even the states which have essentially banned abortion at this stage put the onus of punishment on the performing doctor, rather than the patient.

It's not much, but it's something.

Life can be so terribly cruel at times.
Spoke with my sister on Sunday about my nieces funeral arrangements. Turns out she was in hospital at the time with complications from cancer and a chest infection
She passed away yesterday. Totally devastated
Condolences mate, that's rough

I really have no words, Ray. My thoughts are with you and your family but please contact me if you need to talk, mate

realised something had got into the pond and was unable to get out (was watering plants, and one pond had a load of algae or something that I mean to get around to clearing. Noticed an unusual bump rising up on the surface of the water...)
some poor fox must have either not realised it was water, or slipped in trying to get a drink and couldn't get back out. :(

I’ve thought this for a while, but 2012 seemed to be the tipping point where the (fairly) steady improvement, and ultimately hope for the future, in the UK ended.

I see that in these straightened times, with so many people really struggling, Shell have reported a profit of more than 9 BILLION pounds in the last 3 months!
And they're not the only ones...
They're all making millions and Centrics have posted a profit of over 1.5 BILLION pounds in the last couple of months.
A spokes man told the BBC that, ".... yes we're of course aware of the situation but if we don't pay shareholders a dividend then people just wont invest in the future."
Oh right, that's ok then.... Fully understandable.
Fucking bastards.

Centrica can get to fuck as everyones bills go skyward.

I worked with their old FD twenty years ago, he was second in command of finance at WH Smith when I was there. ABSOLUTE COCK. And a shit golfer too, I should point out.

I worked for Shell for a couple of years too. I should point out that your franchisee managing the garage makes about 1p a litre on fuel sold. The company on the other hand...

Same thing at Starbucks when I worked there.
