Ticket Prices 2021-22

These are the last lot of ST prices... Who do they really think we are comparable to??

Of the other 18 PL sides confirmed for next season fair comparisons would be Villa, Leicester, Norwich, Burnley, Everton, Newcastle, Leeds

Unfair due to location would be Southampton, Brighton, Watford, Palace, Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs, Chelsea

Unfair because they are in the Sky 6 Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd

Within the fair comparisons there will be shysters like Leeds though

There's a season ticket comparisons thread on Football Forums so will jot down the prices here for each club I can find. Bear with the asterisks as there are alot of conditions with different season tickets

Arsenal* - £1250
Brighton** £545-770
Everton (start at) £420
Palace £550
Leeds £470-710
Leicester £360
Man City*** £299-800
Yernited**** £532-950
Norwich £500 (so called cheap seats)
Southampton***** 530-999
Spurs*** £807-£2233
Watford £493 (mid range)

*Arsenal fans play for 19 league games and 7 Cup games. If they don't play the 7 games at home they are rebated.

**Brighton have negotiated with public transport to assist fans getting to the ground via train and bus by showing their season tickets

*** Limited availability of these lower prices)

**** United supporters are auto enrolled with no opt out onto the automatic cup scheme where they are railroaded into buying tickets for Cup competitions

***** Southampton have recently increased one of their ST's year on year price by £250
Palace tickets start at £420 and the cheapest Southampton ticket is £399 (obviously there's fewer tickets at this price, but behind the goals is £530).

Newcastle are £417 to £811.

Leeds are also running a scheme that if you renew a ST but can only attend 5 games you will have 14 credits against next season (no idea on the finer detail mind you). But they've clearly thought ahead around covid restrictions

The club my friend is involved with are talking about memberships similar to what Wolves used to do. For £x you get y number of games. They need to know what their capacity will be before committing though and also how they decide who gets what game

Doing a fine job of throwing away years' worth of goodwill here.

The season ticket waiting list is a red herring, just because people are sat on there doesn't mean they'll buy one, especially if the prices rocket from an already high starting point.

And I hate this "compare with other clubs" nonsense, Moxey used to peddle it all the time and it was rubbish then too. It matters not one jot what Villa, Newcastle, Leeds etc charge because I'm not going to go and watch them.

Many on the waiting list were seduced by the Nuno project and the quality and calibre of players that Fosun had brought into the club and the exciting football on display. A lot of that has now eroded, not least the man himself having departed the club, so many of those on the waiting list may have lost a bit of the hunger to get on the ride now

The Masterplan - Put prices up but reduce them with the rebate. Next season reduce them back to last years levels and look the good guys...

Its look liking a hike incoming but will hold off second guessing them and flicking them the cyber V's until they actually release the prices. Government expected to announce football capacity rules before the 14th June.

I'm on the waiting list currently. However I was going to have to cancel membership and lose my place on the list until mrs jelly got her job last month.
She's been out of work for 2 years, and is on a zero hours contract now, so I can afford membership for a year at least and retain my place. I'm too low on the list to be likely to be offered a ST anytime soon, which actually helps as having a year to stash something to one side so if the opportunity became available after the past 2 years would be good.
I've always wanted, even if just for 1 single season to hold a ST, so at some point I expect I will. Whether that turns into a long term commitment is another thing.
I'd obviously review the option if prices rocket mind.

Bit like my mates who'll say "if you don't ever go I'll take your ticket"

Offer them Palace on a Tuesday night and you get a "nah thanks, but I'll take it if you don't go to Liverpool"
Better things to do clearly.

This is what I think/hope too and to be honest I would accept that if, big if, there was a long term strategy around season tickets. Clubs should be looking at/be forced to drive ticket prices down or at least peg them until cost of living catches up. They can't be trusted not to fleece "customers" unchecked.

Is it cynical to think they’re doing it in the knowledge ST holders are owed money and effectively will lose that and then pay the same as they did for their previous ST ?

Not surprising as the Q&A this morning, an almost throwaway remark around FFP suggested the club wanted to increase match day revenue (can't remember the exact phrase but something about increasing revenue to match similar clubs?). Need to know the level of increase I suppose but I'm guessing it will match the money I'm owed.

I still don’t really get the increasing revenue line. £100 increase per season ticket (were talking over a 20% increase here on mine, when it was already a 33% increase the year before), is going to make you less than £2m in the year once you’ve factored in all the concessions tickets they can’t possibly increase by £100. Is the £2m going to make that much difference? Probably going to be about 1% of turnover and insignificant compared to agents fees.

Their original plan to increase revenue was to expand the stadium.
As someone that generally went to around 5 or 6 home matches a year and similar number of aways, I’d resigned myself to the fact there was effectively no chance of attending for some time, until the capacity was increased while the club (quite rightly) prioritised ST holders.

If the opportunity to attend came instead from gaps appearing through disgruntled fans not attending and from those simply forced out through excessive pricing, it would feel like very poor PR and a terrible undoing of all the good work that got us to this point in the first place.
