Top strikers - the early years.

£35m... 73 games, 5 goals and now appearing as a panto villain in the SPL. Well done Jeff

Good Christ, it's already been more than 3 years since we signed him?

Time's a bitch. Incidentally, so is Fab.

4 years very soon.

He isn't markedly different now to when we did the deed.

Joke signing at the time, not so much the player, I knew nothing of him, but the fee for someone that young given our standing as a club. Joke of a player now. I'll take my smug baton and go for a jog round the block

(Sorry man. I mean I sort of backed him too above. But lolz)
There's still time!

God for somebody so cynical I can be hopelessly optimistic about absolute shockers

He might legitimately be worse. Thought he had something about him at first.

It's nice to read one of these threads and for my take to actually seem decent! Still 14 goals behind Connor Wickham...

In terms of what he represents, this is one of our worst ever signings. Instead of kicking on with a top 7 squad that needed refreshing, we spaffed money up the wall on Fabio Silva. Any team would have struggled with losing their main striker who was crucial to how they played, but we ended up with a kid unsuited to men's football and then some clown from Real Betis. Feels like this signing really underlines our decline from peak Nuno, and the rise of hubris Jeff.

Plus he's an absolute dickhead, I'd happily give him away on a free (with a sell-on clause) simply to never have to think about him again.

This has been unquestionably our best period for 40+ years and yet Fabio, Hoever and Guedes totally stink out the place in terms of awful signings, each of them so poorly conceived that it beggars belief.

I still reckon Guedes is a worse signing than Fabio but there's a fag paper in it.

Poor Cutro as well bless him. At least he tried though.

Saw a piece in The Athletic the other week about Como and he featured pretty heavily in it. Doing ok by all accounts but it is Serie B. Also his home town so he feels much more settled.

Bad scouting on that one, he never fit the profile of the kind of forward who would succeed here and weirdly we pretty much never rotated him with Raul, if he played then it was the pair of them together with Jota missing out, which never seemed a partnership that would work out.

Maybe a different story if he scores at least one of the glorious chances he had away at City, the club would also have to answer questions about off-field care as he clearly struggled to adapt to living here. When he came back (after we'd been told the very first loan to Fiorentina was basically a done deal and he wouldn't be back, more bad communication verging on outright lying) he didn't want to know, his performance at Chorley was all kinds of dismal. Terrible miss at home to Albion as well.
