I wonder if there's any chance at all we'll revert to a back three for this one? Just to directly match Spurs up if nothing else. I wouldn't go down that road personally.

Moutinho back in training, if he can play then he has to. Very much doubt Nunes will play (assuming we are signing him), it's Tuesday now, we'll be travelling down on Friday, he'll have had no time at all with the team.

I don't think this is Guedes' position at all long term but he's better than Hwang.

Wouldn't risk Semedo just yet from the start as we need him. Both full backs are on notice though, been rubbish so far.

-------------------------------Sa-----------------------

Jonny-------------Collins-----------Kilman---------Ait-Nouri

---------------Moutinho-----------Neves-----------------

-------Podence------------Gibbs-White--------Neto----------

----------------------------Guedes-------------------------------

Good record away at their various grounds.

2021/22: L 0-1 (H), W 2-0 (A), D 2-2 (H, LC, lost on pens)
2020/21: D 1-1 (H), L 0-2 (A)
2019/20: L 1-2 (H), W 3-2 (A)
2018/19: L 2-3 (H), W 3-1 (A)
2011/12: L 0-2 (H), D 1-1 (A)
2010/11: D 3-3 (H), L 1-3 (A)
2009/10: W 1-0 (H), W 1-0 (A)
2003/4: L 0-2 (H), L 2-5 (A)
1995/6: D 1-1 (A, FAC), L 0-2 (H, FAC)

I think he'll go with the same team apart from Guedes in for Hwang.

But I'd go for:

----------------Sa-----------------------

Jonny-------------Collins-----------Kilman---------Ait-Nouri

---------------Moutinho-----------Neves-----------------

-------Guedes------------Gibbs-White--------Neto----------

----------------------------Hwang-----------

Sa showing his occasional crazy positioning there :D

Assuming Nunes is announced tomorrow morning, or even tonight, he'd assumedly train with the team tomorrow and Thursday.

Surely then he'll at least travel with the squad for Spurs. He's match fit, so I'd be starting him personally. I guess common sense would say he wouldn't know enough of the defensive and set-piece details to start though.

Podence was indeed shite against Fulham.

Hwang is no kind of answer though. We could play Adama I suppose.

Give him a week with the squad & introduce him at molineux v Newcastle is the correct answer here.

I dunno. Hwang is kind of ok at running in behind but it's pointless as he does nothing when he gets there. Every other aspect of his game is miles off the quality required.

Currently on a run of 1 goal in 23 games. I don't want him up front unless he's absolutely the only possible option, which he isn't.

I saw Guedes trying to play off the shoulder a few times when he came on last week. Stick him up top, he can't be any worse than Hwang.

Suppose it depends on where Lage thinks Guedes should go but think I'd go with Johnny's team, but upside down obvs. Would like to see MGW as the middle of the 3 either way

I’d keep hwang up top and drop pod to bench. Atleast as mentioned hwang does make the runs in behind and occupies defenders with that.

Then again, I just don’t rate Podence 🤷‍♂️

Looks like Romero is out for them, that’s a big drop off in quality at centre back if that’s true.

would like to see this as a start

‐---------------Sa---------------------
jonny ----Collins------Killman----Ran
---------------Neves--------Mout-----------
Neto----------MGW---------------Guedes
‐-----------------Hwang----------------------

after 60 bring on Nunes for Mout
all of a sudden it looks so much better.

sub on

Nunes to start this now. Will have had 1 or 2 training sessions with the team, too good to leave on the bench.

He’ll definitely start. I reckon Hwang will keep his place up top ahead of Guedes, but I can see us switching to 4-3-3 with Neves, Nunes & Moutinho. Semedo may get a start too.

All of a sudden, our bench is starting to look better too.

I don’t see him starting myself - might be a bit too soon - it’s been a massive week for a 23 year old, let’s not forget.

Helps that Moutinho is fit, too.

Depending on how the games going, I can see him replacing Moutinho on about 70 minutes.

If we’re 4-0 up by then, we might not need him.

I'd keep podence and swap Hwang for guedes.

I don't think Nunes will start, moutinho might start depending on his fitness as he missed most of pre-season.

Semedo might start but could see him coming on as sub again.

Even if we don't get our strongest first XI due to fitness, the changes we're able to make now are decent ones.

He said “I’m ready to play tomorrow”. I know that’s a soundbite, but he’ll be in the starting 11.

Moutinho is just back in training after injury. Nunes has played every minute for Sporting before the move.

Nunes will start.
