Trump

Clinton is ahead of him in the polls atm. Sanders absolutely destroys him though.

Don't discount how many votes a row with the pope will cost Trump at the end as well. American Catholics aren't going to be particularly comfortable voting for a bloke rowing with the Holy See. He will score well in the ultra-conservative non-Catholic bible belt, but that doesn't carry as much weight as say Boston.

I remember an interview with Trump a while back when he explained how (considering his debts) a beggar outside one of his buildings was wealthier than himself (Along those lines anyway). Always thought he was a larger than life character but it's fair to say he's nasty and the thought of him being the latest puppet to step into the oval office is almost unfathomable. It's odds on Hilary Clinton I would thought ... mind you it doesn't matter if they elected a cardboard cut-out.

Did you see Trumps comments about the protester yesterday?

“The guards are very gentle with him. He’s walking out, like, big high-fives, smiling, laughing,” Trump continued, before saying to loud cheers: “I’d like to punch him in the face, I tell ya.”

“Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,”

“Look, see, he’s smiling. See, he’s having a good time,” Trump said of the protester. “You know what I hate? There’s a guy, totally disruptive, throwing punches, we’re not allowed to punch back anymore. I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks.”

He'd fill the Bierhallen for sure.

Clinton may have issues regarding her email usage though.

On trump, I always associate the word as it was one of the first ever used to describe a fart when I was little. I still wait for him to use the line "I love the smell of napalm in the morning", as it wouldn't be out of place if he did.

He will get absolutely annihilated by Clinton in the actual election. Trump is just another step along the path toward the Republican Party making itself utterly unelectable. See Palin, Sarah.

I don't think he will - Hillary Clinton is a rubbish politician and exactly the sort of candidate with a dodgy background that Trump will destroy by just yelling mud at her. Bernie Sanders is the Democrats' only hope. This opinion piece is pretty good at explaining why.

I'd love Sanders to be President but being as 'socialist' is akin to a swear word in America I think there's very little chance of it happening.

Also i like sanders but his age is a concern for me

Shit, didnt know he was that old..guess that explain a lot, and his hair

Nothing explains his hair

Anyway, trump should have his own talk show ..would suit him more than president of USA

Anybody of any common sense will not vote for Trump.
He's just banging the drum that's getting a lot of people passionate currently.
When it comes down to policies I expect him to slip up, I'd be amazed if America voted him to office.
If by some miracle they do the thought of Trump and Putin trying to be diplomatic is a scary thought.

In 2014 a survey of US citizens revealed that 52% believed the old testament of the bible to be true. In the days of evolutionary enlightenment that explained a lot to me about why the US does what the US does. You get the president you deserve if you have a complicated political system just like we get the government we deserve with an undemocratic first past the post system. Dont be surprised if trump does make it! Latest projections show he could become president with as little as 22% support if he wins the right states. And we moan about Cameron and his majority with 34% of the vote. Worrying times.

While I doubt that Trump will win, his success so far shows that Americans are as disenchanted with their politicians as the British.

The only Sanders likely to be US president is Colonel Sanders

Slights concerning that Alan has not commented on this thread...

I'd be interested to see what the polls say if it were Sanders v Trump. Could see Sanders winning that.

Clinton won South Carolina with a massive landslide. She is definitely going to be the Democrat candidate now, unless there is a huge change on super Tuesday. And Clinton will beat Trump as well.

' Susan, was that a sly little trump? ' I can still picture that being said to me when I was little!
