UEFA Nations League & Euro 2020 Qualification

All of Ireland's starting XI today were born in Ireland, first time that's happened in 45 years.

Didn't last though as Kevin Long got injured and they brought on Cyrus Christie. Doc is playing centre half now!

It's a terrible game.

Suppose iin fairness to Kenny had no option as had no centre halfs available with only 5 subs after the other 7 had been excluded due to covid restrictions.

Had a second player test positive today, so not sure where we stand player wise for wednesday as no doubt more will be excluded for bring close contacts, although we get 2 back who missed thursdays game.

Think Christie has played centre half a fair bit at club level. Don't think Doc has ever been there for anyone! He did I believe play CM occasionally for Ireland U21s.

He didn't look too bad in fairness although Wales were more toothless than Shane McGowan.

Yeah, that was weird by Nuno. Traore at wing back, Donck in midfield. Half time changed it to what it should have been and we played better

I'd tried to wipe that from my memory clearly :icon_lol:

We never did it again...

Was when Boly had just had his foot run over by Gibbs-White, right? :D

I think Doherty played CB when he was on loan at Hibs? I even have a faint memory of someone posting about how underwhelmed they were with him in the games they’d seen up there - “slow” was the main word.

Nah, Doc only played at RB for Hibs. It was me that posted that, hating on Doc before Deutsch made it cool... ;-)

I think I might've suggested that he became a CB because of his lack of pace. He was regularly rinsed by shit wingers when he was there, in the cup final he was torn a new arsehole by Suso Santana and Andy Driver.

Kiwis do us a favour and cancel their friendly with England for November - FA go ahead and organise a new one with Ireland to fill the gap. Why on earth during a time when one should want to clamp down on fixture congestion and unnecessary travel the FA believe that we need a friendly match immediately prior to two competitive matches in quick succession, I have no idea.

I presume to fulfill contract obligations to Sky/ITV for Live games they have paid for this year and sponsors who have splashed the cash and promised x amount of exposure.

Can't think of any other reason, as it certainly won't be to get revenue in via crowds

Some talk they're moving Euro 2020 (2021) to Russia.

The multiple countries idea was a load of nonsense anyway but I'd rather not give them another tournament.

If you are going to move it anywhere it should be here surely? Final was at Wembley iirc.

Heard a couple of weeks ago that the FAI had more or less wrote off the likelihood that Dublin would be used for some of the games as originally planned. So something obviously in the pipeline.

Bellingham call up to senior England squad

How is Bellingham getting called up over someone like Maddison?

Maddison would have pulled out with injury no doubt, they're still trying to manage his hip problem that had him missing pretty much all of the end of last season.

Looks like not only will we have the joy of having Doc playing full back on Thursday but also the added bonus due to Enda Steven's being injured of him turning up at Left Back.

Feeling that it's going to be a long night Thursday.
