UEFA Nations League & Euro 2020 Qualification

Wales two to the good , against ten. Time to try and arse it up. Such a familiar feeling it’s almost comforting.

I didn't watch it but appears England were more fluid in attack albeit against a poor side. 343 seems to be pretty set so I'd go
-------------------------Pope---------------------
--------Walker------Coady--------Maguire
TAA-------Henderson-----Foden------Chilwell
-------Sterling-------Kane---------Rashford

There's a strong argument for Mount in CM and Grealish and Foden in the wide positions though. Gomez to come in for Walker if the injury isn't season ending. I worry Coady's Covid situation will have damaged him. Interesting that Southgate seems to hammered the message home to Grealish that Bruce and Smith haven't been able to about playing heroeball

It was like an attack vs defence training session and unfortunately although Mount played well in midfield, you can't judge how it worked there against Iceland. Improvements that I've seen in this round of fixtures is that the full backs, particularly Saka, were prepared to bomb forward and made it a genuine 3-4-3 rather than 5-2-3. I still worry against the better opposition that we're not going to see or hang onto the ball, which is where Squealish has been effective. He does give a constant outlet for a pass, holds the ball well, moves with it well and draws fouls that release the pressure. I'd pick him either instead of Rashford on the left or have him behind Sterling and Kane.

I wouldn't pick Grealish at all over Foden, who was very impressive last night. Holds the ball better and creates far more, his brain is on a different planet than Grealish who I feel slows everything down to draw fouls.

Foden behind Sterling and Kane with Mount + Henderson/ Rice in the middle. Grealish on the bench.

could also play 4-3-3 with Sterling and Foden in wide slots as they do for Citeh

Agreed, despite the hype Foden is a better player than Grealish, but i hope we can accommodate both.

Rumours that Musiala has picked Germany :(
Just done some reading up on him all of which you'll know, but seems a fairly easy decision really.
Born in Germany with a German mum. Lived there for as long as he has here, plays for their biggest club, Low has said he'll go into their senior squad, Southgate has said our U21s and commercially he'll earn more as a German international playing there than he would as an Englishman at Bayern

Yeah, it's a shame but not surprising. Some seem to think he will have less competition as the current German youngsters are not exciting as ours but..... let's be honest they will still do better at tournaments than us!!

I wouldn't necessarily say they will with Jogi still in charge.

Their defence is a genuine shambles.

They just have that knack though - although eventually Low has to go too surely? he's been there forever now!

England will seem this as a huge blow, even if we do have such a depth of talent coming through. On the camp I saw them on as U15s, Musiala, Dembele and Bellingham were the stars. need Karomoko to get his act together!

Henderson out until at least April. If he has any setbacks in his recovery then he's going to be touch and go. Just when I'd stopped despising his presence on the pitch, too.

Saka absolutely has to go, can play anywhere.

Betting suggests Coady isn't going to the Euros. Done by John Stones' renaissance

Think Barnes will be quite unlucky in his career with so many players in front of him in similar positions, sadly for him. very good player though.
