Ukraine

My mate and his Mrs in kyev have posted what could be an emotional goodbye on social media, as they properly gear up to protect their city.
Told us the shelling is closer, barricades are up, they've got ammunition, Molotov's, and he quoted Captain Oates " we're going outside, we may be sometime".
Think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell, and not sure if he wrote bugger in his diary today, I don't think they'll make it through if I'm honest.

How exactly are Russia/the Kremlin justifying this to the people. What exactly is the propaganda?

Lithuania saying they will no longer use russian oil or gas, partially as they feel sanctions in place don't go far enough.
Massive respect to the prime ministers of Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic for going to Ukraine via train to meet Zelinsky and give their support to the Ukrainians. That's leadership! Not flying to arabia to effectively change your reliance from one dictator/worrying regime to another.
I am still clinging on to the hope that this can be resolved quickly. The Russian advance seems to be held, so they are blocading in cities, and there do appear to be cracks in Putins hold on things, albeit minor cracks.

Putin has to make it look like he has won , even if he hasnt. So many deaths, needless of course. I havent given up hope.

Can`t see that Putin will be willing to pay for the damage he has inflicted once all this is over.

She was given a £200 fine.

If I was her I would be looking to leave the country as soon as possible, obviously a very minor fine given how public a stunt it was and the world was looking. I would presume that once the dust has settled another much more serious charge would appear or she would just disappear in the night.
Seen reports of loads of Russian journalists and intellectuals fleeing Russia while they can

Just come across @Youblacksoul on Twitter. Some of the footage on the account is unbelievable.

The Azov battalion in the Ukrainian army are literal Nazis. They wear the Wolfsangel symbol on their uniforms which is the same one Nazis in the German SS used to wear.

Having looked more through that twitter account it aligns very much with Moscow's view that russians are liberators of a persecuted people.

They hate Putin too, as he's a 'Jew'.
Ultimately, they'd like to turn towards Kiyv once the Russians have been sorted out.
When Russias been overcome (hopefully) Ukraine will need to sort out the far right their country.

This is a really good article on it mate. As ever the goodies Vs baddies narrative we're spoon fed doesn't stand up to scrutiny. It's quite concerning we're now arming these people to the teeth. Every time we meddle in other parts of the world I'm sure we just make things worse. The cynic in me thinks it all just comes down to money and the military industrial complex, someone's making a shit ton of money from all these weapons aren't they.
