Watford 0-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Also, I'm not sure why the 2nd is a scruffy goal? It looked like excellent approach play with some silky skills from Podence before crossing to the back post, little bit of chaos and then we score.
Approach very good. I think the scruffy element is marcal attempt and then hwang misskick. Goals a goal mind, lovely ball in by podence

Technically Marcal got 2 assists today.

Haven't watched anything as been out all day, I'll try and find a full replay tomorrow and watch highlights/Motd tonight but just pleased/relieved that we've won today through whichever way we had to, to get the first goal. Really looking forward to next week now.

We were very good again I thought, we could and perhaps should have won it more comfortably.

Neves my MOTM thought he was excellent and Podence superb from the bench.

Pleased for Hwang to score on his debut looks like he will offer us a different option in attack when needed. He was also just behind their defender for the OG.

Just back and loved the football we played at times - when we move it quick, we look great.

Looked like a lucky goal was the only way we’d score today - we just don’t have enough goals in our front three - Trincao and Traore will get 7/8 between them all season and it’s not enough.

I can’t help worrying about Raul. He got better second half but he looked miles off first half. Just want involved. I guess he needs games but I hope he comes good soon.

Neves best player on the pitch.

I actually thought we looked pretty solid - can’t remember Sa making more than one routine save - Sarr looked ok but we kept him fairly quiet.

Lots to enjoy. I just wish we had more goals in us - there’s no doubt we’re going to create the chances.

Not sure there's much to read into Trincao being subbed when he was; strikes me as the sort who won't play more than 60-70 minutes a match unless we're really needing to be on the front foot. In today's case we were already pretty dominant so it wasn't much of a risk to sub him if he was out of gas.

We might get an extra 30 seconds on Match of the Day, which has just been re-named as "The Ronaldo Show". The little bastard.

It was only a matter of time before the anime found us, I suppose...

Great to finally get some points on the board and in quite a convincing manner judging by the stats. Kudos to Bruno for turning our style around in such a short space of time with - effectively - the same squad we had last season. It's great to see the likes of Ruben Neves reinvigorated especially, and how nice is it to bring players like Podence and Hwang off the bench who provide genuine options and can change games? Glad we didn't sit back on the 1-0 and went for the second.

I'm really excited to see just how far we can go this season. You have to remember we have Neto, Boly and Jonny to add to this.

Once Neto is back, do we think 3 of Hwang, Neto, Traore, Trincao and Podence could play behind Jimenez/Silva, if Lage decides to go back 4. I think Trincao could potentially be good as the 10.
Edit. And Podence

One win doesn’t make us a wonder team I know, but we have played well in all four games and entertainment levels have been high. Really good to see us want to play front foot attacking football and that change is down to Lage so he gets great credit from me for his efforts so far. Now let’s beat spurs in the cup and Brentford next week!
