Sa
Jonny Coady Boly RAN
Moutinho Cundle
Neves Podence
Raul Fabio

Similar system to the way Southampton play (4-2-2-2). Neves tucking in to make a three in front of the defence with Moutinho/Cundle when we don't have the ball. Podence pulling wide or just in behind Raul/Fabio with the ball.

The problem is preperation. We won't be able to comfortably play a new system with these players that have been so set in their ways for so long. And because of that, it will be more of the same. I'm fully expecting this:

Sa
Jonny Kilman Coady Saiss Marcal
Moutinho Neves
Podence Raul Neto
And we'll be shit again.
I think 4-2-2-2 could work but Neves has to sit in the deeper midfield role with Donk (as a destroyer).

Sa
Jonny Kilman Boly RAN
Neves Donk
Pod Neto
Raul Hwang

Could work, Coady is just too slow to play it so you would be losing arguably our best defender which isn't ideal and Boly isn't fit so there another problem.

We've seen at Utd what 4222 does if the players haven't had the chance to adapt to it / don't fit the system.

Podence and Neto couldn't play there, especially Podence as he offers nothing out of possession. When Southampton do it well they have Stuart Armstrong as one of the advanced CMs (note - they're not number 10s, not that we even have a proper one of those at the moment). We don't have a single player remotely similar to that.

Moving our best player into some pseudo-right wing role is somewhat bizarre, Jinky.
It’s just a way to have him more advanced but naturally he’d be more central then wide.

It’ll never happen anyway but I’m just tired of the horseshoe of doom & want us to try something different.

I don’t see him risking going to 4 at the back, which is the only logical step for me, so I’m fully aware my suggested line up is just me splurging on the internet, don’t worry 😂

Apologies if already mentioned elsewhere, is this game on TV anywhere? Prime? BT?

Never mind, not televised. Another one I wont get to see. Not sure whether that's a bad thing really...

I saw Watford against Arsenal on Sunday. Can't defend for toffee but they actually created quite a lot. If they score first then they'll probably win...

Well, they're all televised somewhere, and whilst I respect anyone's reluctance to bypass a subscription service, I don't see that any organization is being deprived of anything by streaming a non-UK-broadcast match in the UK. That said, I share your feeling that I'm going to regret doing so.

I believe the "main" streaming site has ceased showing Premier League matches, but I'm sure there will be alternatives available.

yeah hesgoal have apparently stopped for now. my dad is still moaning about this!

Did you have to? Still not over it.
I console myself with thoughts of how crap it would have been to get done 4 or 5 by City in the final. And also I never had to go to Wembley's diabolical selection of pubs again.

I seriously doubt I'll go if we make it again, it's a fucking terrible experience whether you win or lose. Pick any shite provincial town that people laugh at, Bradford, Hull, Burslem, Portsmouth, Southend etc etc etc. They're all miles better than Wembley.

It's a proper shithole. I felt like a really, really bad parent taking Cass into that 'pub' we ended up in.

Double Six was an abomination. Possibly the worst I have ever been in, and I have visited many MANY dives over the years. If we ever get back I am doing Euston Flyer and then straight into the ground once I get to Wembley.

Can’t remember the name of the cesspit we were in, think it was over the road and further down than Double 6 past the petrol station.
Had a chat with Penk there for about ten minutes, he might remember it but doesn’t really matter as he isn’t around anymore.

It was the Parish Bar. An absolute hole.

Was that the one which apart from its other "delights" included in the toilets paintings of famous players?
which quite honestly I think a 6 year old could have done a better job.

Fucking hell still doesn’t ring a bell. It was a complete fucking dive though, felt fucking dirty for the rest of the day after that.
