It should be on the menu as "Roast for Pretentious Cunts who like High Tea and cakes, and also can't decide between beef and pork, but still want the yorkies just in case - with shit baton carrots and what looks like Aunt Bessie's roast potatoes"

Who needs a plate for a curry when you've got a tray with a bit of a lip around it.

That's the whole point.

It is relatively easy (especially for a skilled chef) to create art in the presentation of food. ON A PLATE.

This fucking nonsense is, most of the time, covering up other inadequacies in the chef by going to shock value and wow factor.

Also a quick way to get people to notice your restaurant via social media. Get a dish that is served on something daft and it's across Facebook and Twitter very quickly.

Not using plates is hardly new though. Loads of restaurants went down the piece of slate route years ago.

I had a Thai chicken dish the other night that came out in a hollow pineapple. Didn't think to take a picture for the thread but as non-dishes go I thought that one was pretty tasteful.

There's a place round here that does that. Can't think where it is but it was advertised on FB a couple of days ago. Supposed to be quite nice.

What the fuck????

Just seen the hollowed out pineapple one above as well. Squeeze had a thai curry served that way in a truly fucking sensational restaurant in Barbados on our anniversary a few years ago. It was the night when I said "bring the Dom Perignon" without even looking at the menu, and ended up nearly shitting myself at a bill of over £500 for the meal...

Not bad with a Dom at an exlcusive hotel included! Must have had a posh meal deal on that night

It was a nice restaurant down the road. Squeeze thinks the bill was more. Possibly £800. I know it hurt

My bar bill at the end of the ten days was around two grand. Barbados isn't cheap.
