Welcome Jose Sa

,,
A lot of people on here falling out of love with Fosun and the way we do business. Those people didn’t seem too bothered a couple of years ago when we were operating in the exact same way with regards to Mendes. We were warned by a few fans of teams on the Mendes carousel of what to expect and all the people moaning now I seem to remember brushing it off then. Some very short memories I guess.
This person has pointed out the difference on numerous occasions over the last 3 months, but please carry on

Sorry Tony but you have lost me a touch there. The carousel gives at times and at others it takes. At all times Mendes does well. Take is Rui off. Give is Trincao at a very low market price option.

Sometimes we are going to be pissed off. Other times we are going to be delighted.

I say good luck to Sa. However a clearly better option was out there in Dragowski. If Rui wanted a last season in Rome that’s where we should have been going. Hopefully Sa does well but this one does make me raise my eyebrows a bit.
Was Dragowski available for such a small fee? Is he going to move from Fiorentina? What’s his wage situation compared to Sa? Will he settle as well not being Portuguese?

They are all things to consider before knowing anything about his ability (which I know nothing).

What I do know is that Rui categorically couldn’t play for a team playing a higher line, a team looking to distribute quickly or more effectively through their keeper.

Just look how many balls Ruddy hits early or throws quickly to get a counter going in limited appearances. Rui literally never did this. Hopefully Sa can.

The double save in the France game was arugubly one of the best bits of keeping in the whole Euros?

Could argue he cost his team there place in the tournament against Belgium.

Rui Patricio. If he is available for only 10.25m, that is who I would buy.

This season will be a queasy experience if every thread, every game and every topic devolves into pining for ex-players and the Spurs manager, and wishing it was 2018.

At some point I hope we can let this season, and our new manager, players and squad breathe a little

Apparently people know more about what I think than I myself do, but the players and coaching staff will get every chance from me to prove themselves. If they're good I'll say so, if they're shit I'll say so.

But I can't blame anyone for well-founded scepticism. These are at best a gamble, aren't they?

Well said. Some people seem very unwilling to move on. I get that 3 of the last 4 years have been an absolute joy to be a Wolves fan, unquestionably the best years of my Wolves supporting life. But we have to accept and embrace change, let the past go. Nuno and the team he built were never going to last forever, no matter how much we wish it could be so. We get that the change is a self induced risk, but sometimes taking a risk is the only way to reach your desired goal. So cut out the whingeing negativity and enjoy the fucking ride.

Welcome Jose Sa, I hope your time here is good, I have no reason to doubt it will be.

Rui is gone now, it's something we have to get used to. Just as people got upset over Douglas, Afobe (although much inferior) this is the model the club has operated under since fosun came on board.

I admit it's harder saying goodbye to the ones who are/were fantastic to watch but there's no room for nostalgia in the game we are playing. It's like Game of Thrones football style (only hopefully with a better ending)

I don't have any interest in a carousel, until last Summer we weren't on one, with the random exception of Ola John who cost nothing. Then we sell Doherty to another PL club and the agent earns £6m out of it, we buy a kid who collective agents earn £11m out of, and we appoint a manager with a coronation, who wouldn't be looked at by another PL side.

Trincao, I dont't have an opinion on, neither do I Sa, but the pretence that they were scouted options picked by Scott Sellars is the insulting part.

As I've said before when Mendes brings positives I'll praise and when he doesn't I'll criticise, but I'm not accepting of this weird rough with the smooth dynamic others are happy to sign up to. My interest is what's best for Wolves

A quick Google shows that the last couple of years West Ham, Southampton, Arsenal and Wolves have all been linked with trying to buy Sá.
Obviously "linked" is... 🤷‍♂️
I'd love to have full access to all of our scouting reports, it would be great.

We were but we were in the filling up mode, amazingly at the start Mendes wasn't interested in moving around the likes of Dave Edwards, now we have reached the point where we are the same as every club with strong Mendes links.

I'm a fan of Sa but in January we were delighted to sign a forward who nearly signed for Barca and was linked with Spurs...

But what is better in the long term, are we better off than we were 4 years ago? An obvious answer but that's the deal.

Short term, players move, things change. We were worse last season than the one before but still better than the championship. You can't isolate one decision and feel agreaved that made us worse when there's others that improve us. You simply can't run business like that, and like it or not we are that, a business, run by a very successful company who have an overarching view and how to get there.

Of course this may all be a mistake, and they could have thrown the baby out with Nuno, but I have a feeling they haven't. We've done business early and efficiently so far as normal, including the appointment of a new manager. That's no mean feat.

I think that demonstrates a company that is well run. Vinny is a bit of a scapegoat and I suspect deployed to deliver the shitty news no one likes, deflecting a but of heat from Jeff.

Meh I’m sure those agent fees are on a par with what every other club is doing. Will continue until its banned or regulated further/better.

As for the manager, done to death but Pep wouldn’t have got a job anywhere else except Barca, same Zidane at Madrid. Chuck Pirlo at Juve in there. Some more successful than others.

We’ve picked a manger who speaks Portuguese, good coaching background, actually won something, worked in England, Mendes client, plays more attractive football than Nunoball (so I’m told). It ticks a lot boxes. More than a lof of other candidates. Who else ticks that many - Mourinho, Marco Silva, Amorim…

Ones unattainable, the other we don’t want, and the final one a bigger gamble than Lage

Was pretty good goalkeeping, first save better than the second but he did have to get up quickly. He was still making very good saves for us last season too but also making more mistakes similar to the Hungary disallowed goal.

Well this thread has moved on at pace since I went down the pub 4 hours ago.
Welcome Jose Sa? Seems some are welcoming him, others are saying to him, 'fuck off Jose, yam shit'.....never known such a disrespectful welcome thread.
