Welcome new members

We've noticed quite a few new members have signed up just lately, so we thought we'd give you the chance to say hello in here.

How long have you supported Wolves?
Favourite past/current players?
What do you make of the manager debacle we've all 'enjoyed' over the past week?

By all means have a look in the other sub forums too - from other sport, to the general waffle and unfunny jokes in general chatter.

Hi , Langdale Wolf.
Ive supported Wolves since I was about 5.Though I didnt star to go untill the early 70'S. My first game was a night match against Leeds , about 72.There was 50,000 at the Molineux. Also went to the Liverpool night match against Liverpool , again well over 50,000.I went under my dad´s legs without paying.Every game the great John Richards seemed to score.Waggy on the wing.(place the ball on a sixpence waggy) The Doog ,Frankie Munro , Mike Bailey ect.

My favourite all time players are John Richards and Steve Bull. Current player is Steve Fletcher.

I believe , Wolves are a team of honour.I think this has been overlooked. The reason we didnt have a back up When Mick left , is because Steve Morgan didnt want to go behind mick´s back while he was still the manager. This i believe is also born out , when Morgan asked reading for permission to speak to reading´s manager-Eventhough , we didnt need to ask , we did.We didnt get a reply for the request. So we didnt go ahead.Curbs is a decent manager. But he is snidey and he believes he is more important than the club.We should have got Bruce But Morgan is aware that there would have been a backlash from the fans.
Now we have got T.C , there has to be unconditional support for the club. The supporters will make or break our season Our team are good enough to stay up.Old Gold has to come first.

ello i'm new too ... last match was hmmm micks kast game not sure what the future holds for us ........ start praying now . but still a good come back today so who knows
tricky wolf

Welcome to you both. History o know you from Mol mix so welcome. Quality poster and knowledgable.

Howdy,

I've supported wolves since about the age of 10, so that makes it 16 years now. I do have a confession though, before that time I did once support another that go by the name of Man Utd. I was young and niave and saw them on TV, though through shameless propaganda on from the part of my father, basically only taking me to wolves games and buying me wolves stuff I became converted whilst I was still young enough to be remoulded.

Fave current player is predictably Fletcher. Not just his goals but the more I watch him on the ball his technique all round is real quality from accepting the ball, accurate passing, and obviously clinical in front of goal. Jarvis also has really been perfecting his craft on the wing, always seems to manufacture a cross from whatever position and is getting more accurate with crosses all the time, has thrived since being in the premiership and has only got better.

The manager "debacle" as you put it I think was only really portrayed as that in the media. The real problem was no-one was lined up because the sacking of McCarthy was done reluctantly because Morgan I think just kept hoping it would work but things just gradually kept getting worse and with the defence particularly the West Brom hammering in reality was a long time coming. TC is good for now, and overall comments about the club in the media have probably just created a tighter unit and siege mentality in the squad and could really be what saves us as the players have it all to prove and set the record straight.

The more I see since Connor was appointed, the more I agree with this sentiment.

I get the impression despite Mick going, the club is pretty united in going into what is now the last 12 games.

Welcome to all of you.

There's a few on here who venture over there mate - all goodens.

I'm a new member, have supported Wolves for nigh on 60 years through thick and thin.
I emigrated to Spain 7 years ago but watch every match with a couple of other Wolves fans in a local bar.

You'll have plenty of opinions, I suppose - you'll be a tough nut to crack to be sure!

...I'm sorry.

Thanks!

Only relatively new, but want to thank everyone on this forum for providing an informative and entertaining mix of opinion! I haven't watched a live match for a few years - for a slew of unrelated reasons - so really appreciate the time people take to report on the games.

I'm completely behind TC and I don't believe a fraction of the nonsense that's been written in the media in the last few days. Promoting loyal servants through the ranks doesn't make headlines, but it might help consolidate everything good that Mick did while building a new direction. For me, TC has always meant Top Cat - the most effectual Top Cat - just not the bit about being 'Championship' ;-)

Hi I joined the forum the day after Mick was sacked. Living away I wanted to find out what fans with their 'fingers on the pulse' actually thought. I've not been disappointed - some very interesting and knowledgeable fans on here. Think I upset one or two with my first couple of posts but Hey-Ho that's what it's all about I suppose. One things for certain we're all passionate about The Wolves!!
My Favourite player as a kid was The Doog and I started 'Doog Week' at school - nearly every kid was walking round with a 'Doog Week' sticker made by me stuck to their blazer. I also had a cat called Dougan. Other favourites were Richards, Hibbitt, Waggy, Munro etc.
I was at the '80 LC final v Forest and had the misfortune to catch a train back from Euston on the same platform as the Forest Football Special.
I didn't see much at Molineux for the next decade as I was playing football myself on a Saturday and got married had kids etc, so I can state (unlike a lot??) I wasn't at the Chorley game.
I started going regularly again in the mid nineties and my favourite game from that era was again against Forest 3-0 and loads of violence on the pitch after Branchy scored - great stuff.
I moved to Ireland in 2000 so don't get to many games nowadays, I was at the QPR promotion game and got on the pitch and took a few tufts of grass with me, I brought these back with me and now I've got a bit of the Molineux growing in my back garden. Favourite players from the nineties: Bull, De Wolf, Froggy, Thommo. Nowadays: Waiting for Zeli.

I've supported Wolves since I was 6 and started going to matches aged 10 about 1996 with my dad.

Favourite player is either robbie keane or joleon lescott.

Current favourite is probably doyle but also like stephen(play anywhere) ward.

Wasn't sure about TC but now he's manager will give him full backing.

I reckon the average age of the membership has about doubled in the past week! For those who missed my first post, I'm another with memories of the 70s glory days, the best of which is, of course, the 74 LC victory. Favourite players would be that team, only with Shaw for Palmer and McCalliog for Sunderland. I was so sad when Frankie M passed away last year; such a great character. Of the current squad, I'm most impressed by Jarvis, though Hennessey probably deserves POTS if we stay up. Like WolfO, I've admired a lot that Ward's done during the past couple of years, though I'm not convinced he's best used in defence. I don't understand why he gets stick from some on here.

I'm not a native. I didn't set foot in Wolvo until I came to the poly at 18 and a footballing virgin, but a few of the local lads soon put that right and I've been black and gold ever since.

Ours isn't always the easiest team to support, but what else can you do? I was talking to a Boro supporter recently about the difficulties of following a less than stellar team. He said: "Aye, I know... constant frustration and dissatisfaction polished over with blind optimism," which about summed it up, I thought.

So come on, you Wolves, do it for us and for TC this season, and this time next year we'll be looking at qualification for Europe!

A big welcome to all the new members who've joined us over the past couple of weeks.

I've supported the Wanderers since 1987-88 season, when my dad first took me to the Molineux. 3-0 victory over the mighty Exeter

Favorite player - obviously Steve Bull, boyhood hero!

Manager debacle? Quite amusing to see the press falling over themselves to fill the space in their back pages with any old rumour. Also quite amusing to see people going into meltdown over who we may or may not have been hiring (I wonder how many people actually ripped up their season tickets?). A bit fustrating watching daft lad and barmy bollocks' media-savvy approach, showing all the pr skills of gary glitter trying to get his latest album 'the kids are alright' out.
Not suprised to see TC appointed, was ambivalent, but I reckon he might turn out well and keep us up. He'd got the dressing room behind him - and you can't buy that, just ask Roman O'bramovich.

Hi all

The long manger thread made me sign-up.

I have supported Wolves since the late 1980's, when the club got stuck for several seasons in the division from hell - one league away from the top flight. A decisive point was of course Steve Bull, his name was frequently in the Monday newspaper's match results and goalscorers. I started to follow the club.

I guess Wolves became my club in England when the England manager told Bully to move to a top flight club, if he wanted to be an England regular and then signed a new 5 year contract shortly afterwards. I know he believed Wolves could win promotion, but I really loved that commitment to the club. Being the first or one of few players who was picked for England, while playing in the fourth or third division, didn't make things worse.

Unfortunately, I have only seen Steve Bull on TV a few times, playing Denmark and in 1990 world cup. I live in Copenhagen and haven't had many chances to watch Wolves live. I saw Watford-Wolves draw 0-0 (with SB sidelined again with knee injuries) in the early 1990's and a few years ago I finally went to Molineux for yet another draw 1-1 against Norwich.

Beside SB, my favorite Wolves players have been Dean Richards, Joleon Lescott, Robbie Keane (until he kissed the Coventry badge when scoring on his debut) and Michael Kightly, Wayne Hennesey, and Matt Jarvis from the current team. I am looking forward to see how good Zeli Ismail will be.

Best regards
Mads
